A.I.I- Chapter 5, Missing

  • I was sitting on the steps to Jorrvaskr, waiting for Selafyn. He said he would be back by this evening but he still hadn't returned.

Fearing the worst, I decided to pay Arcadia a visit.

“Ah hello Ria. What can I do for you today?”

“By chance, have you got anything that can heal wounds in an instant and something that can regenerate someone's physical health quite fast.”

Her head turned to the side in contemplation as she said,

“Maybe, I'll just check in the back. Wait here.”

I waited for a while as she came back with a pair of elixir bottles.

“So lighter red one is a Potion of Ultimate Healing and the darker one is an Elixir of Regeneration.”

“Great thank you so much. How much does that cost?”

“Well, half it since you're a companion. So, four hundred and fifty nine gold.”

    “Ok, here.”

Divines that was a lot, if Selafyn is ok then he bloody well owes me five hundred gold.

I walked back up to Jorrvaskr as Farkas, Vilkas, Skjor, Kodlak and Aela were standing at the door. Kodlak started.

“Ria, you need to relax, you've been pacing around for the past two days. He might just be on other business, he isn't directly bound to the companions.”

“Yes I know that but I'd rather just check in case. Where was that vampire contract located?”

Vilkas peaked up as he remembered glancing at it.

“Ah, yes erm. Broken Fang Cave just east of here.”

Kodlak, realising she wasn't going to stop, said in a calming voice.

“Ok, well take Vilkas, Farkas and Aela.”

Skjor didn't like the idea and annoyingly said,

    “But Harbi...”

    Kodlak put a hand up,

“I trust you to help me with the whelps, these three are fine with her.”

He still didn't like it but understood perfectly fine.

“Ok, you can all get ready and meet by the gate in half an hour.”

    “Ok.”

Roughly half an hour later, I had packed up all my belongings and began to fletch out a steel arrow.

I found fletching to be quite distracting which was a good thing.

That was when I realised I was particularly good at it.

We traversed the plains, the three navigating more widely whereas I struggled to keep up with them.

Eventually we came to a deep crag in a hill.

A cave opening inside. All seemed well as we saw the corpses of two humanoids but that's when we all saw it.

All seemed well as we saw the corpses of two humanoids but that's when we all saw it.

A particular body, high elf origin, mutilated and destroyed, left for dead.

I ran over to his corpse, the divines must have been generous as he was barely scraping to his life.

“Oh, shit. Selafyn. Hey, hey, hey. Look at me, are you there?”

“Easy Ria. I'm not sure if we have a lot of time left...”

He was stopped as he began to cough up blood.

“Just wanna say, ya know. Before I go.”

“What, you are saying? You are not dying on me.”

“You've been a good friend, even if it was just for a week and a bit...”

I began to see tears on his face, realising that I had started to tear up.

    “Selafyn, please. Stop.”

“You've been there from the beginning and now you get to see how it ends.”

I felt his hand brush across my cheek,

“Don't cry, Ria. I'll just be going ahead for a while, don't worry. I'll wait for you”

I didn't know what to do, his face just looked up as my eyes blurred.

    “Please, don't go.”

“I love you Ria, I'll see you on the other side.”

And with that he closed his eyes and stopped moving.

    “Selafyn... Watcher... Please... No”

I looked up to see Vilkas and Farkas, staring on with sorrow in their eyes. Aela had tears in hers as she knelt down next to Selafyn.

    “I'm sorry Ria, I think he's gone.”

A/N- Sorry for the wait, had a lot of things on my hands and it will unfortunately stay like that but I hope to get another chapter out soon. So enjoy and any feeback is much appreciated
