I would do anything (for a quest)...but I won't do that!

  • So I finally made it back to Markarth to do some Markathy quests.  Figured I'd take care of business in the Hall of the Dead, kill that Frost Spider in Nchuand-Zel, and then meet up with that guy at the shrine of Talos to see what this Forsworn muder was all about.  Bing, bang, boom, right?

I enter the Hall of the Dead, assuming it was going to be a Daedric quest and wondering what sweet Daedra artifact I might get out of the deal.  Then Eola starting speaking to me about cannibalism.  Wha..wha...what?  This isn't New Vegas honey!  That shiite won't fly in Skyrim.  But, not wanting to turn down a chance to crush some enemies, I agreed to accompany her to Reachcliff Cave.

Mjoll and I met up with Ebola..er, I mean, Eola, outside the cave, and she's begging to go along with me.  We're supposed to clear out some Draugr.  So far, so good.  Eola proves surprisingly stong with magic, zapping Draugr with lighting and even reanimating some Death Lords.  Not bad.  With Mjoll following me, my Potent Storm Atronach that I conjure, Eola and her risen Draugr Lord, we have a pretty badass party going.  5 of us in total (including me), which is a personal record.

We get to the final chamber though, and all hell breaks loose.  Draugr are everywhere, there's a Dragon Priest in the back, and it almost seems like my party is infighting.  Are they infighting?  Holy crap, my Storm Atronach is fighting Mjoll!!  Where's Eola?  I focus on killing the Dragon Priest (who has no mask, sadly), and return to find Mjoll finishing off the Atronach.  Where the hell is Eola?  I start looting the corpses, and there she is, dead on the ground.  I search her person, and the words "Quest Failed:  The Taste of Death" floats across my screen.  Besides choosing sides in the civil war, it was the only time I'd seen a "Quest Failed" marker.

I was planning on killing Eola anyway, before any crazy cannibalist stuff happened, but wanted to do it on my own terms.  I wanted to surprise her, and decapitate her.  But this....losing her in a battle, where it seemed like my own Atronach or Mjoll may have turned on her...felt weird.

So I cast my trusty UESPWiki spell and read about how the quest would have played out....and goddamn!!!  That is some sick, twisted shiite!!!  A priest?  Really?  I'm not a religious person, but the thought of tricking a priest into coming to the cave only to cannibalize him ritually was a bit too evil, even for a Daedric quest.  And the ring you get?  Gross.

So, I left Eola dead on the ground, and left the altar of Namira quiescent.  If any of you guys actually went through with this - ate a priest and feasted on other humanoids for cheap stamina, all I can say is YOU'RE SICK!!!

You guys are so silly. It's a video game not real life. You can eat all the people you want and it's not a bad thing.

I totally agree with you guys on this quest. when I first came to Markarth (playing sikah 1.0) I thought the place was a little odd architecturally but not bad looking then the random deaths start happening with the conspiracy quest-line that you can't dr...  more

Agreeing with Julian Edwards.  I wish there was a way to delete a quest (or at least archive it) when you have no intention of ever following it up.  I know that Bethesda tried to come up with a menu that would look less cluttered, but I have something li...  more

Kynareth, I hear you about how Markarth is a dark place.  I really liked it when I first arrived - it was so different and seemed so intriguing.  But after doing some quests, there does seem to be an undertone of vileness to the place.

Nice nod to Meatloaf, Donivan...I am with you on this one...I left her alone in the cave after helping to rid it of the draugr...I might have to go back and finish her off just to protect the innocent.
I also found House of Horrors incredibly upsett...  more

Haha yep I did the same thing. I roleplay my character and while he enjoys killing and such, he draws the line at betrayal and murder and other disgusting acts.
