Chronicles of the Silent Rain-Chapter 2- The Bosmer Adventurer

  • Edornas woke to the breathtaking smell of venison stew, his stomach growled hungrily at the smell. Sigrid, Alvor's wife who had clearly heard him, said.

“Good lord, hello sleepy head. Your stomach sounds like it needs food, come on grab a bowl before its all gone.”

He climbed out of the bed and stretched his legs. He walked over to the table and took a seat next to Hadvar, who looked surprisingly less paler than last night. He glanced over to his leg saying.

    “How you feeling?”

“Actually a lot better thanks to you.”

    “Good, Good.”

After breakfast, Alvor came in from the forge with a full set of leather armour, an Imperial looking bow with a filled quiver of steel tipped arrows, a steel forged sword and dagger, his backpack which was now filled with a few waterskins attached to it and a large coin purse.

“Here you are my friend, this should be enough for saving Hadvar's life, twice now I do believe.” Edornas smiled as he saw the items in front of him.

“Oh, Alvor this is too good to be true.”

“Please my friend its the least I could do.”

Edornas sat there admiring the work that had went into the weapons. Alvor stood in front of him and said.

“My friend, I need to ask a favour if you. Jarl in Whiterun needs to know of the dragon attack at Helgen.”

“Ok I will do some business here and then I will head to Whiterun.”

Edornas thanked Alvor and Sigrid, strapped his dagger to his waist along with his coin purse. He sifted through his pack to find a few sets of jewellery and gems. He took out his folded belt bag and placed the trinkets in the bag. Thanking Alvor again he left the house.

Riverwood was a small village that was fairly modest and comfortable. Almost directly opposite him, Edornas saw a sign that said. “The Riverwood Trader” Edornas smiled to himself and walked inside. He saw two imperials, a male merchant and a woman, arguing about something that had been stolen. Eventually the merchant turned to Edornas and said.

“Ah, a customer. Please come on up and show me what you have.”

Edornas handed over the bag and the shop keeper began looking over the various objects before saying.

“Ok erm that would be two hundred and forty five gold, here.”

He then handed another bulging coin purse over to Edornas who strapped it to his belt. Before he walked out he turned to the merchant propping himself up just in front of the door and said.

“If you don't mind me asking, What was stolen?”

“Ah yes, an ornament made out of solid gold in the shape of a dragons claw. The thieves then fled to Bleak Falls Barrow just west of here.”-Lucan

“I could get it back for you, I'm familiar of where the Barrow is.”

“You are... Great, I've got some coin from my last shipment, it's yours if you get my claw back.”-Lucan

Edornas then went outside armed with a newly filled coin purse, he decided it was time to go and have something to eat. The inn surprisingly was just next to the trader, he strode in to the common room which was fairly empty except for a Nordic bard and a lone wood elf sitting in the corner. Edornas gave them an inquisitive look and then walked up to the bartender saying.

    “What's your best drink?”

“Well lad, I have a bottle of Argonian Bloodwine for a hundred gold.”

“Perfect I'll have that and two cooked meals and the name of that elf in the corner.”

“Well he is called Faendal, he used to be an adventurer but something happened and now he just works at the mill. He's the only wood elf in the town but he is a crack shot with a bow.”

Edornas then tossed him a coin purse and said.

“Thanks friend, could I have two tankards with that?”

The bartender then produced the bottle and two tankards saying.

    “Sure, here you go.”

Edornas took the bottle with the tankards and walked over to the elf. He stood for a second and said.

    “Faendal?”

    “Yeah”

“Good to see a fellow bosmer so far from home, here I bought you a drink.”

Faendal looked up in shock and replied.

    “Wow, erm thanks friend.”

The tankards were filled and the two elves clinked them together, drinking in turn. A moment of silence fell between the two of them until Faendal broke it saying.

“Could I possibly ask a favour of you?”

    “Sure, you name it.”

“Well I am in love with this girl but then again a big headed nord is also in love with her.”

Edornas gave him a questioning look before interrupting him saying.

“Right and you want me to convince her that you love her more than the nord?”

“In a way yes but all I need you to do is give this letter to Camilla who is in the Riverwood Trader and say its from Sven, ok?”

“Oh ok, erm I'll be back soon, this won't take long.”

So Edornas left the inn and returned back to the Riverwood Trader. Camilla was sitting at a small table by the fire, he walked over and said.

“I got asked by a Sven to give you this letter.”

    “Oh erm ok.”

She then took the letter and opened it, she gave a hurtful look as she read it, finally saying.

“Well you can tell Sven he already has a mother, I'm not talking to him again.”

Edornas then left the trader and walked back to the inn, he sat back down next to Faendal and said with a smug grin plastered across his face.

“I don't think Camilla will be taking to Sven ever again.”

“Thank you here, its not much but its something.”

Placing a small coin purse on the table which Edornas pocketed saying.

“I've been told that you were an adventurer.”

“Yes, I was. If I can be of any service to you just ask. You never know I could teach you a few things.” The bartender came behind with two plates of food, Edornas took them and said.

    “Ah thank you.”

He nodded and headed back to the bar. Faendal then sat down beginning his meal and said.

“Thank you, my friend. I haven't felt so good in ages.”

    “My pleasure, Faendal, my pleasure.”
