    Chapter 1: New Beginnings

I turned my back on my homeland escaping the epidemic that sweeps it’s land now headed for a land called Tamriel. The journey has been long. The boat has been ravaged, and I stand upon its deck looking through the tattered sail to see a city standing strong through the fog.

My father’s journal speaks of a city in the northern regions of tamriel. The city of the bear where proud men and women called nords live. Windhelm. I head below deck and grab the remainder of my gear. It sits in the corner of my cabin, a weapon I dare not show in public as it is too alien for this land but very common in my homeland of Akavir. The traditional akaviri armor fits comfortably around my body. It’s been too long since i’ve donned the armor. I throw my cloak on hiding my armor and the weapon sheathed on my hip.

I go up top and steer my ship into some nearby rocks. Concealing it from view as the towering rocks hide the whole body of the ship. Confident on where I have beached my ship not far from Windhelm, but far enough where no one will go looking for it. Suddenly the harsh cold winds hit me, reminding me of where I lived in Akavir. A place called Kamal. It is very similar to Skyrim in many ways, harsh weather, long winters and short summers, swirling with conflict.

I throw up my hood hiding my angular features and shoulder length black hair. The city gates eventually come into view and I am stopped by what I assumed a guard who asks me if I know how the war is going. Not knowing I replied keeping my head downwards, saying; “I’m not sure miss.” The guard responded with a grunt and let me pass into the city.

The city sure lives up to it’s reputation with its tall stone walls covered in snow. I turn my attention to the market district of the city and as I enter I notice a stall with a sign hanging saying “Bookseller”. The Imperial attending to the stand noticed me approaching and in standard shopkeeper fashion he asked,

“Hello sir, what can I interest you in?”

I responded with an akaviri accent, “Just browsing.”.

The man looked bewildered which i’m assuming is because of the accent. A red stained leather bound book catches my eye titled Battle of Pale Pass.

“How much for this?” I ask as I point to the book.

“30 Septims.” the man tells me.

I go to open my coin pouch which is strapped to my hip, revealing the grip of my katana and upon noticing it the man asks “Quite a bizarre grip there, what weapon would that be?”

    “It’s nothing.”

I tell the man as I pay him and walk off towards the tavern to read this newly purchased book and maybe rent a bed for the night. The tavern reeks of ale as I enter through the front door. The woman behind the bar welcomes me in, but then a drunk nord comes running down the stairs and slams into me, sending me back out into the city. I regain my balance and move into a defensive stance ready to brawl with the nord who is way too drunk. He swings towards my face and I block using my elbow, following the man’s hands I notice he unsheathes his dagger from his hip.

“You don’t want to do that!” I yell at the man.

He ignores my comment and I throw back my cloak revealing my armor to the public who are gathering around us as we fight. My blade has become unsheathed and I swiftly bring it across the man's chest, then into his heart. The nord screams as the katana’s runes glow red and absorbs the soul of the man. His body falls to the ground with a thud, which is defened out by the citizens of Windhelm yelling “Murder!”. I pivot and notice 4 guards rushing to me not wanting to fight them I sheath my blade and rush out of the city towards the stables to steal a horse. I mount the horse and ride into the night in full gallop, getting as far as I from Windhelm.

This looks nice. You very rarely see a story written in present tense. Also, I´m wondering how this Akaviri looks, considering he´s from Kamal. Is he a Kamal? Snow demon? How does he look?
