Chapter 1: Companion
Entry 8.

It has been a little over a month since I helped slay the dragon at the watchtower outside of Whiterun. In that time, I have been made Thane, completed countless requests no matter how trivial and slain another four dragons single handed. It is either due to those feats or the Companions have become laxer since my last life, for I have was told that I shall be going to retrieve a piece of Wuuthrad as my test for full membership of the group.

The fragment was located within a barrow in the plains of Whiterun. To ensure that I displayed honour worthy of the Companions I was accompanied by Farkas one of the senior members of the group.

At first the barrow was like any other, filled with draugr. However, as we worked our way deeper, it became apparent that we were not the only ones here. Eventually we came upon a room that required me to activate a level to pass. The moment I did so, I was trapped in the alcove that the level was located in.

While Farkas was busy telling me to wait while he searched for a way to get me out, a group of humans carrying silver weapons rushed into the room. Before I could stop to think, Farkas started to writhe in pain and within moments stood before me as a werewolf.

It turns out that the senior members; who call themselves the Circle, all share cursed blood. The very thought of it made me sick. That the Companions had been corrupted in this way was horrendous and to make it worse, so of them even revelled in the curse. No. This wasn’t right, I decided at that moment that I would remove this curse from the Companions.

As we still had a job to complete, Farkas and I continued ever deeper speaking only a few words between us. Farkas out of something inborn and myself because my head was filled with thoughts on how I could remove the curse from Jorrvaskr’s halls.

The remainder of our time in the barrow turned out to be no different from any other quest into an ancient ruin. The only thing of note was that we encountered a wall similar to the one I found in Bleak Falls. Much like that wall, this one had a glowing word and filled my head with chanting. What was even stranger about it was that Farkas claimed to be unable to hear or see any of this. Perhaps it was to do with being Dragonborn?

Once we had the fragment, we made our way back to Jorrvaskr and were greeted by Vilkas; Farkas’ brother, who led use to the training ground behind the hall. Before me stood the four members of the Circle and the Harbinger, Kodlack.

To each of Kodlack’s questions Farkas answered positively and so by the end of the ceremony it was made official. I was now a full member of the Companions. I was one step closer to my dream of Sovngarde.

Paws Not a fan of wolves, our hen. I wonder how he and Cyre would get on. Two Altmer chewing the fat together, drinking wine and eating eidar cheese and crackers. That would be a hoot.
