One thing the game does a great job of handling is all these points of view regarding immigration. For every Altmer with a pole up his arse there is an ungrateful immigrant, and for every sympathetic High Elf Banker there is a tourist thrilled to be there. Throwing wide the borders was a huge culture shock for the natives, and how much tolerance they have changes on an individual level. But they toe the line because the Queen commands, even the ever so sweet proxy queen has misgivings but does what she must. less

I mean, from the official perspective, these people have the same rights. But after dealing with fellows who actually don't know how to tell time by a clock, or those who don't know that electric devices need electricity to work, I can't understand how one can see these guys as equal. Not to mention how "pleasant" it is to have these fellows around. The Altmer probably feel the same, though the details of their issues with outsiders are obviously different, the essence is the same. less
