So through a lot of digging and I mean a lot, that I won't explain because it hard to understand, I found that Karth or -karth means valley. So Karth River means valley river, Markarth means Market Valley, because the Mar part comes from an Old Norse word for market, Karthspire mean Valley Temple, and Karthwasten would mean Valley Washed or Washed Valley, wasten is close to the Dutch word for washing. So there you go.
Nice one Davey :)
Makes me think of the term "Strath" we use in Scotland. Strath is a Gaelic word for a type of glen\valley so places like Strathclyde, Strathaven and Strathspey mean Valley of the Clyde, Valley of Avon and Valley of the Spey.

@Legion Thank you, and I am glad you know now the meaning. :)
@Paws Thank you, and always know I am the guy to come to for words. :)
@Veloth funny you mentioned Scottish Gaelic because that was one of seven languages I used to look for the meaning.

There's the dwarves who attempted to harness starlight before they went extinct. There's also the device thing (forgot the name) in the Imperial City in the Arcane University so you can perhaps add Imperials to that list.

Are you talking about the Orrery? Also, thank you for this information. I shall now go explore more Lore about the Dwarves and Stars.
