Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if you make the banner a part of the background image rather than its own separate thing, we get the benefit of having a banner but if someone sets up a different background for their profile page the banner will go away.
-One or two people suggested this a few months ago, but the logo was democratically selected last summer. Nothing was ever officially planned for a revamp.
I'm pretty sure that's the site background you're talking about. That's where we had the poll with the current background, the brown background we were using before, another background which had a vault door merged with a dragon claw door (still bummed out about how that one didn't win :P), etc. The banner was something Mason designed a while back along with the little front page blocks and a couple of other things. I also imagine that if the banner was really democratically selected we wouldn't have so many people coming out against it at once. :P
-We hear some folks don't care for it and we'll take it under consideration in the future. Right now we're focused on the platform switch and we'll revisit the issue following that.
And rightly so; the platform switch is the more important issue. That being said, I think Curse is right, simply swapping the current banner with the old one is something that could be done minutes (I assume) and would do a lot to make the profile pages of many members look nicer.
If you guys want to leave the current banner up, then there's obviously nothing wrong with that, but I thought I'd just add my two cents.
