If it goes well, you would play as a ressurected draugr, one that was buried before the dragon war. Being raised at that time you would have believed Alduin was the high dragon and worshiped him alongside the dragon priests. However with the realisation that he only created the dragon cult for his own selfish pride, and that the dragonpriests also decieved their subjects, you become a crusader seeking to rid the world of them.
I guess lore-wise ive mostly got it. My only problem is consistency with the game... The real point you learn alduin decieved the people is well into the main questline, after you have been going out to kill him
The reason Men rebelled against the dragons back then was because the dragons and their dragon priests ruled with an iron fist and oppressed them. So you can say that your character has a grudge against dragons and of course that will include Alduin since back then but he was not able to act in time and do something about it because he died. Not sure if this helps, good luck.

I'm currently roleplaying an Assassin's Creed esque character and need a bit of help. I'm wanting to join the DB and do bounties, but I'm not capable of justifying it and it also blurs the lines between an assassin and sellsword. Any way to make it work?

One way it could be justified is that you are/were in a group similar to the Dark brotherhood. You could also be part the Dark Brotherhood from a different region that is a splinter cell of the group that believes you are doing the work of Sithis and you are cleaning their sins or you are cleaning the sins of the world for Sithis, since you are doing it for a religious purpose and not for money, I hope this helps.

In my RP where my Chaotic Good character joins the Thieves Guild, I justify it as he knows that Maven is connected with the Guild and figures she's resposnible for the sad state of Riften, so he intends to join them and become the new Guildmaster, thereby cutting off part of her power.

You could say that you do these for a greater purpose which is to go up in the rankings and ultimately take control of this group of assassins and change it the way you like it. Then you can make it an assassin group that will be focused on keeping a balance and not go full on the side of Sithis/chaos but assassinate only when there is a purpose. Not sure if this helped.

Well on one side Daedra Princes are inherently chaotic, so using their artefact and obeying them would make sense.
But the Good bit makes it more difficult. I read Chaotic Good as doing morally ambiguous things for the best result, and getting rid of a dangerous weapon is the best possible result in the grand scheme of things. Maybe see if you can RP some negative reprocussions to go along with siding with the priest (forgot his name, Erandur?) it would make more sense for the character to choose it - more of an internal struggle. Maybe Vaermina decides to take vengeance on Dawnstar and kills Erandur, maybe some other villagers as well, if you're on PC spawn in some Atronachs or 'cultists' to attack you in the wilderness, stuff like that.

How religious is your character? Because tendrils of mystical energy teaching you stuff can pretty easily be passed off as an Aedra or Daedra teaching your character new powers. A good way to encourage this is to only go after shouts at big points in a character's journey - before or after a mission of turning point in their life, after a certain level etc.
If not religion, and as its a Khajiit... They could just be really high on Skooma and actually thinks its a magic rock. Not exactly an elegant solution, but I think its bloody hilarious and when funny stuff fits I try really hard to roll with it.
