Character Build: The Paladin of Molag Bal - HD Edition

The Paladin of Molag Bal. A god among builds. Its unsurpassed quality reflected in its 150+ likes, and spawned things like offshoot builds and an entire thread devoted to creating digital art of our great lord Trevor Deathhand . Now the unstoppable Trevor Deathhand is back with an all-new HD remake featuring better spelling, amazing 1920x1080 screenshots with too many graphics mods, and more ridiculous overpowered action.

First off I'd like to thank you for hopping aboard the hype train based on a few random fantasy images I found by googling "demon knight" and similar with the words "Build Preview" and my name thrown on them. That first one got 27 likes, and the only thing on there indicative of the build was kinda Daedric-looking armour.

My name is Trevor Deathhand. I was a Breton living in Cyrodiil with my parents. We lived in an isolated farm high in the Jerall Mountains, and worshipped the Daedric Lord Molag Bal in secret. One day my father had gone to the smithy in Bruma to purchase a pair of maces so that we could go massacre the goblins keeping to themselves in a cave near our farm. This left me alone with my mother, a pathetic woman who didn't even know how to fight. She sent me out to hunt deer, and cook it when I returned. I killed the best deer in the herd, so it tasted good.

    That was when it happened.

As soon as my father opened the door on his return, a foul Thalmor assassin shot him with an arrow while sneaking, killing him instantly. He shoved my father on to me, and though I was the strongest person my age, I couldn't save my mother in time as the Thalmor Vampire sunk his teeth into her neck, draining her life in seconds. In my rage, I picked up the dual iron maces my father had purchased and charged the vampire. The power of my bloodline welled up inside me, and I Shouted "FUS RO DAH!", blasting the vampire into a corner where I pummeled him to death with my dual maces. I could see the fear in his eyes as I brought the maces in from both sides for a final blow, crushing his head into nothingness. Then the farm was set upon by a dozen more of them, setting the farmhouse alight. But they were no match for the legendary FUS RO SMASH move my father had taught me. And then I realized I was fulfiling the legend - the legend people know and fear. That one day the last of the Deathhands would take up two maces and conquer all Tamriel. I now travel north to Skyrim to fulfil my destiny and avenge my parents by taking up the bow and slaying Thalmor from the shadows. History will remember the name of Trevor Deathhand!

In this build you play as Trevor Deathhand, an unstoppable warrior captured by a group of Imperial soldiers near the border. After you escape, you swear venegance on everyone and everything that has ever wronged you and offer your soul to Molag Bal and become an instrument of his will - the Paladin of Molag Bal. In combat, you completely dominate the opposition with a brokenly overpowered and dull set of skills and abilities. Out of combat, it's your way or the grave.

    Name: Trevor Deathhand
Race: I picked Breton but you can choose your favourite race because Argonians are cool, also vampirism
Stats: All Health. You won't have any spell costs and you can use soups and stews to provide infinite stamina.
Standing Stone: Advanced Atronach, because magic immunity da best and everyone seems obsessed with the Atronach stone anyway. Also use the Steed Stone with the Aetherial Crown to go fast.

One-Handed: Since you're immune to magic and will have the armour cap dual-wielding a mace (highest damage, ignore armour) and dagger (fastest speed) is the best way to go. Just spam the dual power attack until everything dies.

Archery and Sneak: Even though you're pretty much invincible you should still use stealth archery to dish out massive damage at range and kill people in one hit. Silent Roll and Shadow Warrior are cool and you should get them.

Heavy Armour: While you wear heavy armour, you don't need to perk it since you can just restoloop your smithing until you reach the armour cap.

Restoration: I'm really only including this so I can get Necromage.

Destruction: The Augment perks in destruction ensure that you're getting maximum one-hit kill potential out of your weapons.

Illusion: This isn't perked but you can use it to cast Muffle and Invisibility spells. Also hit people with Calm spells so you can sneak attack them over and over.

Pickpocket: Used to steal people's weapons and apparel so they can't fight you >:D

Smithing: You need smithing to make Daedric gear at low level.

Enchanting and Alchemy: You need Enchanting and Alchemy to make your equipment powerful enough to rival a Daedric Lord. I roleplayed that once I had these maxed out I killed Molag Bal and took his place as Daedric Prince of Rape and Domination. - more on this later.

Conjuration: Twin dremora lords, nuff said.

Weapons: The Paladin of Molag Bal wields weapons forged of Doomcrystal, a rare material crafted by Daedric smiths out of soul gems. These weapons have enchantments of legendary power, and are a true boon to anyone who possesses one. Trevor possesses 3 such weapons - a mace, dagger and bow. The mace and dagger are used in tandem for the highest dual flurry (your main attack) speed in the game.
All of these weapons are enchanted with chaos damage and absorb health, because all the stalhrim material, augment and enchanting perks along with 3 priest masks makes Chaos damage (and the corresponding Absorb effect) have extraordinarily powerful magnitudes, befitting of a true Paladin of Molag Bal. I've heard some people say that sometimes Chaos does no damage but since it has 50% chance for each element to activate therefore there is 150% chance to do any damage.

For game purposes you will make them out of stalhrim (make sure you kill the thalmor on that quest because thalmor are dicks) You can also use a second dagger with elemental fury for more speed if you want.

Armor: The power of Molag Bal's vampiric gift with the vampire lord/werewolf chat glitch literally everyone knows about and I don't need to explain allows you to use as much armor as you like. I equipped a Diadem of the Savant with a 1900% restopot for 100% spell cost reduction, all the Dragonborn elemental masks, the Aetherial Crown and a cool Daedric helmet on top. I just used Daedric gear on the other slots, make sure you use enchanting and alchemy to reach the armor cap. I did enchant 10 extra sets of gauntlets with Fortify Unarmed/One-Handed/Archery/Pickpocket though.

Jewelry: I used an enchanted amulet and ring both with Fortify Health and Fortify One-Handed and Unarmed respectively. Also equip an Amulet of Talos with the restopot mentioned earlier for 100% Shout cooldown - this isn't even a prominent part of the build but hey why wouldn't you?

Alchemy: Use lots of fortify one-handed and marksman potions. Also use fortify restoration before equipping items to do more damage. I sometimes used jarrin root poisons to kill people as well.

Secret Items: There's a few super secret items I liked to use throughout my playthrough. There's a cool bow you get if you kill Alduin in 1 hit in Sovngarde while he's flying on Legendary that instantly kills anyone you hit when sneaking. You can also get a secret shouting sword at the bottom of the ocean in Apocrypha, you need 100% spell absorption to get it though. It doubles the power of all your shouts. There's a secret cave in Blackreach with respawning jarrin root plants I don't think anyone else knows about, I'll let you have fun finding it though ;)

Some amazing fanart by Trevor Deathhand super-fan Henson. How many other builds can say they've got fanart, huh?

As Trevor Deathhand you fight using only the deadliest weapons and tactics available.

When you start out, you'll be fighting with weapons and a few spells. Open fights with sneak archery and assassinations. Use Muffle and Invisibility to ensure you take out the entire encounter without being seen. If you are seen or feel like dishing out crazy damage up close switch to your mace and dagger. If your health gets low just cast some healing spells.

Once you max out Alchemy and Enchanting, your mastery over the forces of the universe allow you to challenge Molag Bal himself. As evidenced by his rubbishy artifact, he's no longer fit to be a Daedric Prince. Throw the Mace of Molag Bal into the lava at the Aetherium Forge to break his will - as the Champion of Cyrodiil became Sheogorath you can become Molag Bal. As a Daedric Prince you can now use some more cool spells and tactics.

Level up Pickpocket so you can steal people's clothes for the Prince of Rape special move, and torture someone's soul by soul trapping their corpse repeatedly to level up Conjuration. You also get better at magic and can use Ignite which does crazy damage in combination with your augments and Aspect of Terror.

Trevor Deathhand has sworn venegance on everyone and everything that ever wronged him. That means dragons, Thalmor, the Empire, vampires, and pretty much anything that rustles your jimmies is a valid target. Do every quest in the game for money and power though. Make sure to kill lots of deer and turn them in to venison stew for infinite power attacks because a deer made you sick once.

As the Paladin of Molag Bal you have some dangerous special moves, some of which involve pointless and contrived ways of killing people.

    Fus Ro Smash

The famed and feared Fus Ro Smash move, passed down in the Deathhand family for generations. Use Unrelenting Force and then repeatedly dual flurry your opponent while they're on the ground. Alternatively use Slow Time as well and smash them in mid air.

    Marked Shot

The perfect combo for long range combat - mark all the targets in the area with Marked for Death (which is silent because quiet casting) and wait for about 30 seconds. Thenuse sneak archery to shoot all of them for 1 hit kills.

    Deadly Shadows

Use Invisibility and Muffle and then sneak up on your opponent and flurry them from sneak.

    Shut Up 'n Cut

Repeatedly cast Calm and attack your target with a dagger, allowing you to make a silent kill from out of stealth.

You also get some new moves once you become Molag Bal

    Daedric Army

Get J'zargo as a follower because he is the coolest and give him a set of Daedric Armor and the Sanguine Rose. Then summon 2 Dremora Lords and you'll have an army of 5 badass Daedric warriors.

    Soul Burn

Soul trap someone and then shoot them with ignites until they die. Ignite does like 20 damage per second for 15 seconds each so this is really powerful. Optionally use Slow Time as well

    Prince of Rape

The ultimate special move for the Paladin of Molag Bal. First shoot your target with sneak archery, if they are worthy they will not die. Then turn invisible and sneak up on them and bite them to make them your vampire thrall. Then pickpocket all their weapons and armor and finish them off with Soul Tear. Before they get back up rape their corpse by teabagging them. They are now your undead thrall and they help you kill stuff.

    Lord of Domination

Once you become Molag Bal you can manipulate the forces of the universe at your whim. Use console commands such as "tgm" (God Mode) or placeatme to assist you whenever you feel like it.

    Video

Here's the master-crafted video I created exclusively for this masterpiece of a build. Make sure you pause the extremely appropriate music here before watching the video.

Props to the Skype guys (Tim, Armathyx, Jo'Daro, Henson, Vazgen, Kyrielle and ex-members Dragon and Skalvar) for discussing this with me since January and helping me make it as lulzy as possible.

Please, he will have to stand against his brother, a champion of light, the artist formerly known as Traven Deathand (their parents had strange naming conceptions), who is not exactly OP, and will stamp out all Daedra

    • "I killed the best deer in the herd, so it tasted good."

Sheer poetry. I may have shed a tear or two....

And that header art. Inspired! Simply visionary.

Another instant classic: "You can also get a secret shouting sword at the bottom of the ocean in Apocrypha, you need 100% spell absorption to get it though. It doubles the power of all your shouts. There's a secret cave in Blackreach with respawning jarrin root plants I don't think anyone else knows about, I'll let you have fun finding it though ;)"

I nominate Shut Up 'n Cut for best special move name. Also, good call with over 9,000 health.
