(SPECULATION THREAD) Next ESO DLC:Vvardenfell; TES6: The Dominio

Zenimax has released the Public Test Server (PTS) for the upcoming Dark Brotherhood DLC. The PTS is a special server that gives temporary access to future DLC content, allowing the gaming community to beta test the upcoming DLC for bugs and balancing issues. As more DLCs are released, the PTS gets bigger and bigger since the developers keep adding on to it. In fact, the PTS a mirror image of the playable game, except it includes the upcoming content.

    Here's where it gets interesting.

Historically, embeded in the updated PTS for an upcoming DLC, new areas of the map are opened up for future use and testing by the developers. You wouldn't even know those areas are there unless you were specifically looking for them. Now, you can't get to these areas when the official DLC drops, but the areas are nonetheless open in the PTS, indicating a placeholder for future use. People on the recent PTS have discovered the following areas of the map that were previously inaccessible:

    Vvardenfel, Gnisis, Vos, Tel-Mora, Tel-Arun, Sadrit-Mora, Tel-Fir, Tel-Branora, Suran, Balmora, Ezutanamus, Yansirramus, Bal-Fel, Ald-Sota and Mzanch.

This leads many to believe that the next DLC will be set in Vvardenfell. So, what else would the DLC include? People have been citing confidential sources who say that Clockwork City will feature prominently in a future DLC. It seems like Morrowind will be getting a significant feature soon.

What does this have to do with TES6?

Maybe nothing. However, its interesting to note that every major area in Tamriel has received some form of attention in DLCs, except for the southern regions of Tamriel. Here's a quick snapshot:

    Imperial City (2015): Cyrodiil; neutral

    Orsinium (2015): Wrothgar; Daggerfall Covenant

    Thieves Guild (2016): Hew's Bane/Hammerfell; Daggerfall Covenant

Dark Brotherhood (upcoming 2016): Cyrodiil, Colovian Estates area

Possible Vvardenfell DLC (4Q 2016 or 1Q 2017): Morrowind; Ebonheart Pact

Now, this is all speculation, mind you, but the DLC which would follow the Vvardenfell DLC could be released as late as 3Q or 4Q 2017). Why is that important? It's important because now we're getting close to a potential TES6 anouncement and/or release date.

Since ESO will not release a DLC at the same time or in the same region as a TES6 game (common business sense), is it possible that the next single player installment could be set somewhere in the southern region of Tamriel? Could we be seeing signs that TES6 might take place in Summerset, Valenwood, Elseweyr, Black Marsh or some combination thereof?

    What do you think?

The title has been edited. I changed Summerset to The Dominion.

I remember the Zenimax Writer's AMA and the mention of the possibility of exploring more about The Tribunal, meeting Sotha Sil and Vivec. Those place names now make me excited, especially as the Clockwork City's location has never been revealed. I hate Dwemer but man, even I am stoked at the small possibility of Seht lore.

That would be amazing. Fa-Nuit-Hen, daedric demi-prince of the pocket realm known as Maelstrom Arena (Orsinium DLC), said that Clockwork City was the inspiration for one of the rounds. I think I remember it being round 2 or 4 - can't remember which since those are both Dwemer themed. Either way, it was an amazing sight to see.

I've always wanted TES6 to be set in the Dominion, so this is good news!

Back at Quakecon in 2014 they mentioned some more improvements they haven't done yet - a Spellmaking system with associated questline, improved Justice system where players can enforce the law against other players with high bounties, and a new group adventure zone set in Black Marsh, similar to Craglorn.

Good pickup with those new locations though! This is interesting because Gnisis and most of those other locations are on opposite sides of Vvardenfell. I'll be pretty impressed if they create a DLC that large!

Very interesting news Patriarch - and actually quite a clever move from a business point of view.

There's a major amount of nostalgic love for all things to do with Morrowind - so introducing a large chunk of Vvardenfell into ESO is bound to go down well with long-term Elder Scrolls fans, and will likely pull more people into the game. I'd say that, after the introduction of Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, it makes great sense as a next move.

Can't wait to re-visit Balmora - I can still remember the sense of awe when I first stepped off the Silt Strider and first saw the city.
