Have questions about some of Skyrim's game mechanics? Post them here, and someone can link you to an existing discussion or answer your question for you.

For example, I might want to know some good recipes for Poisons. Someone could link me to Dragon's Alchemy Guide, Vazgen's DLC recipes, or give me some of their favorites.

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could help me go over my math on my Paralytic Mage build. I've previously gone over the alchemy stuff, but I would like some help on my Cloaks and Paralyze maths. I'm about 74% sure that I got it all, but it is based off of old notes so I can't be sure it is.

Basically, I think that I can boost my Cloaks up to 25 damage/second, that's with 119% Fortify Destruction and Dual Casting. And that I can get Paralyze upto a duration of 96 seconds with Stability, Dual Casting, 95% Fortify Alteration and Shalidor's Insights (Alteration).

You can still find any enchant at that level!  The odds of certain ones just fluctuate, and because of the way the game generates loot, the chances of Waterbreathing or Muffle go to 0 for practical purposes.  You can still get them at a fixed chance (equal to the chance of any other enchantment) by making enchanted daedric armor at the Atronach Forge.  There's also a guaranteed waterbreathing item in the hands of a frozen falmer in the Chantry in Dawnguard.

For the rest of the enchants, you should have no problem finding them at that level, even just buy them from merchants to make it easier.  I'm sure you can afford it with all those leveled gems!

Cloaks do not get more dmg when dual-casted, they get more range (about 4.8 times, source is uesp). Well, a destruction cloak with both augmentation perks does 12 dmg, add to this the cloak dmg, multiplied by 1.19 (your potion), resulting in 26.28 dmg per second, rounded down (Skyrim always rounds down) it's 26 dmg per second without taper dmg (the fire cloak does 20% of it's dmg over 2 seconds as taper dmg).

You can get a flame cloak even at lvl 1, just go to the shoreline east of Dawnstar. There will be a burned student and the book next to her. There is a map in the uesp discussion, look for "Found". Only problem is the 289 base magicka.

Hmm... Is that long duration really necessary? I mean, 90 seconds or 100 seconds, who cares? Dead is dead. But whatever, you're right. I ended up with ~ 96.5 seconds, so rounded down it's 96.

Does anyone know what causes random vampire raids? One source I read said they start when you hit 30. Another said when you hit 10. Am I safe if I don't start the Dawnguard MQ?

It depends, because there are like 10 different vampire encounters (probably more). They will generally appear once you pass lvl 8 or joined the Dawnguard (they will always appear sooner or later, regardless of if you've avoided the dawnguard questline or not).

They start at around level 8  and only stop once you finish the Dawnguard questline.

I remember being in cities at night without vampires attacking.

Is there a "disable DLC" option in the main menu for the Legendary Edition?

No, all you can do is deleting the dlc from your console (I guess you're not a pc-player).
