Have you seen Dredd from 2012? Mind Rape Warning: Mature content.

I watched Dredd. Sadly they cut off most of the gory and violent bits. Typical censorship.

EDIT after watching link: *shudders* And this is why we should fear psychics and illusionists.

    Psychicks? :D

Reading today I noticed I usally write internal monolugues/introspection in third person for some reason. It works, but I think you can get a more personal impact using a more active?direct? voice. Such as:

Tyranus, the name came unbidden and she had to clamp her hand against her chest to stop it from shaking at the memory of the Vigilant of Stendarr. He had only tried to help her. He’d understood the forces that plagued her, but in the end even he’d lost hope.

    vesus:

Tyranus, the name came unbidden and she had to clamp her hand against her chest to stop it from shaking at the memory of the Vigilant of Stendarr. He had only tried to help. He’d understood what I faced, but in the end even he’d given up on me.

    Just some random thoughts :-D

Spoilers for Legends of the Wasteland ahead!

Recently I started a Fallout story after I saw that there aren't that many lying around in TSC. I'm writing about the Courier and the Lone Wanderer as they battle the remnants of the Enclave and their ally. I recently posted a thread on the forum about the lack of Fallout stories.  From the feedback I got, it's clear that people can't write about Fallout as easily as about Elder Scrolls.

It's different for me. I find beauty in Fallout's dead world that I can't find in Tamriel. I can't explain that beauty but it's what draws me to play Fallout more than Elder Scrolls. I find that writing Fallout stories is easier for me then writing Elder Scrolls stories, altough I do write them.

Any thoughts on it. How do you feel about writing Fallout or Elder Scrolls stories?

Possible spoiler for The Unabridged Journals of Nerussa, ahead (though not for anyone who's reading it on Steam, but I think that's just Lissette anyway)

I'm about halfway through editing and uploading what I've already written on Steam for my blog here, but I'm also still writing bits and pieces over on Steam (my plan is to get up to date on uploading here, more or less, and then jump ship, there's only really Lissette still reads over there anyway, and it makes sense to try to focus on one 'platform' so to speak) and quite a lot has happened in the five-ish in-game weeks between my latest here and over there. Such as, oh (here's the spoiler part), Äelberon has showed up. So I'm doing lots of agonising over writing him (with lots of helpful input from Lissette :) ) alongside writing Rumarin* and Lydia (and other canon characters, but Lydia's obviously the most frequent one) it's very interesting trying to keep three characters by fairly different writers, each with very different levels of characterisation in the "source material", so to speak,  (plus my own!) in-character. I'm not sure how well I'm doing, but it's certainly fun!

*(for anyone unfamiliar with the Interesting NPCs mod, Rumarin is from there)

I haven't updated here for a while so I guess it's time to.

Started editing chapter 226 today and I've posted chapter 219. Soon there will be another character added to the pack of U.O.T.W. One which I hope will tug on a few heart strings.

    Time will tell.

Posting here to let you all know: neither Agents of the Queen nor A Pirate Hero are dead! Still working on them.

I'm writing here becacuse I don't know where else I would.

Do you ever have doubts after each chapter you've posted? None barely comments these days, and I had the same thing with my other story on other site. People just read without a comment or a Like. I know there are a few who comments and that's find. But, there are still doubts about writing the next one and a thought of why to bother anymore, even we write mostly for ourselves in the first place.

Do you guys have a support group? I'm aware this is one like it. I have a few person who to talk to about writing, but still I'm thinking about these things alone when I should sleep.

I'm sorry if this doesn't make any sense. I'm a little mess right now. :/

Anyway, I have something big stored for Protected, no longer! I'm slowly going towards what I call "the big event" and can't wait to write that chapter post it when it's time. :) Can't reveal anything yet though.

You're preahing to the choir that is me, Cal. Always get that feeling during every stage of chapter creation. I just think of the end goal of the story thinking, "I'm gonna shock the hell outa you all!"

I'm not sure if I can help really. I've been dry for most of the last seven months; mostly due to time, stress and other factors as Karve and I have certainly proven I've still got some writing juice stored somewhere, but I certainly get what you're talking about.

For the longest time, my Streets of Boston was the only (purely) Fallout long story on the vault and while I kept hearing of people praising it left and right barely any of that appeared on the blogs themselves. It's disheartening, while I don't write for others I'm someone who works best with feedback and as such I love going through comments or even just looking at the like counter going up. My best ideas come from interaction and while I can have a pretty good idea of how things are going to turn out sometimes a well-placed comment can give just the right spark to change things up.

I think Ben may be on to something. Sometimes you just have to keep the end goal in mind. If you've got a chapter coming up you really like and you'll know will engage/shock your readers but you know you'll first have to finish up some other stuff just to make it work, it's a good thing to keep in mind that if the parts that are seemingly unimportant and that people appear to ignore are important to set-up the good stuff.

Another thing which might help is to set up the occasional casual discussion with some of your fellow writers. I know we've got some sort of "official" Vault writer's Skype but I haven't heard much good coming out of it (haven't given it a chance yet for myself so I don't really get to judge), I personally just gathered (or got gathered; the details are foggy) a group of other writers and discuss some of the stuff I wrote about with them. You get the input you desire and better yet; you can sorta coerce them (in a friendly manner of course :P) into commenting on your stuff when need be. Personally, I hang around with Karve and Liss (as you may have guessed from the whole Straag Rod expanded universe thing) but I'm sure you probably have some writers (or readers for that matter) you like to discuss things with.
