TSC ToC placement Discussion.
I’ve been approached by a few Members (remember everyone I often class myself as a Member foremost and a Host secondly so I include myself in this) as to whether ToC’s should now be placed in the Discussions section of TSC where they were on the old site or if they remain in the Blogs section.
Before we had a Widget improving discussions it was felt that the Blogs were the best place for them but now that has changed.
Now I’m not going ahead with the transfer of ToC’s from Blogs to Discussions just for the sake of it as we have members who have put in a lot of effort in their work just to find that we are still better off having them as Blogs. Nor however can I ignore the fact that by having ToC’s in Discussions, we would increase traffic in TSC and build on the community there.
What to do?
I’m after a few ‘volunteers’ to have a go at making their ToC’s in both forms. A Blog AND a Discussion. Then I would like some feedback from you so we can get a Members perspective on which is better for the ToC.
Some of the points I want looked at are…
1 How easy Links are to add once the ToC has been posted.
2 How easy is it to format pictures in the ToC. Both before and after it has been posted.
3 How easy is it overall to create the ToC in both forms.
4 Formatting issues.
In order for this to give me the relevant information, I have to request that the ToCs created are listed in the comments below so we know they are duplicates. (Don’t worry if you have already posted the ToC, I’ll cover you for this so there won’t be any problems from anyone). Also, it is imperative that the ToC isn’t a complete ‘copy and paste’ from an existing ToC. I need to know the difficulties in creating it from scratch. Copying an existing ToC won’t give a clear picture on the problems. You can copy and paste your ToC’s for this but just don’t copy the whole thing. Have a go at writing sections, adding pictures and resetting links.
As I am after Member feedback for this, Hosts and Admins are excluded from taking part. I’m sorry if this sounds a bit big for my paws but I am looking at the members here.
At the end of the day I don’t want to waste any hard work from Members of TSC so know that I don’t take this decision lightly whichever result it may be.
