    East Empire Company Captain

Adelaisa sat in her mother's study, feeling for all the world like she was about to be reprimanded for one of her childhood misdemeanors. Her mother stood at the window, her long white hair held back in an efficient but elegant manner.

"I wish to speak to you about your future." she said simply. "This family is old and respected. We have built our reputation on hard work and service to the Empire. Unlike our softer contemporaries, every Vendicci has earned their position not by inheritance, but by action. The time has come for you to act. You must serve the interests of the Empire and it's Company."

Adelaisa nervously brushed back a lock of her own white hair, the family trait that had been passed down from mother to daughter. She hoped that the lack of pigment was not the only characteristic she had inherited, for she knew that she would need all of her mother's courage and determination to survive the road ahead.

    _______________________________________________________________________________

Here begins my first ever build, event or otherwise. This project will document the rise of Adelaisa Vendicci from an auxillary in the Imperial Army to a high ranking official of the East Empire Company. This iteration of the character will be considerably younger than her in-game counterpart, but her skill set will be identical to the unpatched version. The reason why I elected to go with an unpatched skill set is to reflect the combined skills of soldier and businessperson that East Empire Agents tend to personify.

    Race: Imperial

Skills: Enchanting, Alchemy, Smithing, Archery, One-Handed, Light Armor, Speech.

    Unperked: Shield.

     Level Cap: 25

     Stone: The Thief, The Lady

Mods: Wildcat, Alternate Start (Solitude, arrive on boat), Populated Civil War, Immersive Patrols.

25 perks over 8 skills? Challenge accepted. This is going to be a dabbler's build through and through; my goal will be to get decent combat ability with modest crafting to improve equipment and provide a steady stream of healing potions and income.

Magicka/Health/Stamina: 0/1/1 Rely on potions for healing.

    Primary Skills:

    Archery: Adelaisa's go-to combat skill in-game.

Speech: As a leader and a company negotiator, Adelaisa can haggle and persuade with the best of them.

Light Armor: Adelaisa switches to heavy armor in her twilight years, but as a young soldier, she prefers to travel light.

    Alchemy: For potions and profit.

Secondary Skills: Smithing, Enchanting, for additional income. One-handed for close combat.

    Unperked: Shield, for additional defense.

Shouts: None required, but I used Unrelenting Force, Ice Form, and Elemental Fury.

Armor: Imperial Light Armor, full set. Whiterun Guard Armor for RP when delivering Balgruf's message to Ulfric. Scaled helmet to denote promotion in rank. Scale Armor for undercover missions.

Weapons: The Pale Blade, Bow (Best Available), upgrade to Ebony Sword and Ebony Bow, both with Fiery Soul Trap to collect souls for enchanting.

Accessories/Enchantments: Amulet of Dibella (+15 Speech), Fortify light armor wherever it can go, Fortify Archery, Fortify One-Handed.

RP Notes: Dibella works as in-game Adelaisa was quick to declare a booze fest for her soldiers. The Pale Blade goes well with her white hair and is a good early level weapon.

The purpose of this character is to strike a balance between combat and leadership skills and making money. Adelaisa is a basic bow and one-handed fighter whose real strengths lie in her ability to successfully profit from her adventures. As a soldier from a noble family, she will immediately enlist in the Imperial Army, but she can take on side quests during lulls in the action. As Jarl Balgruf of Whiterun will not speak to her about the war unless she undertakes the first stages of the main questline, becoming Dragonborn is required, but pursuing this quest will be secondary to completing the Civil War. Morally, the character is designed to be played honorably. She will do her best to live up to the ideals of the Imperial Army, even if the Army or the East Empire Company fails to abide by their own standards.

Adelaisa's other goal is to further the interests of the East Empire Company, and as such, she will amass any political titles or economic benefits as they become available. Securing thaneships and houses is essential; the latter can be seen as trading posts or offices in each of the holds. Hearthfire Steadings can be used to generate additional income from Alchemy. In addition to this, Adelaisa will attract as many followers as possible, so that she can use them as her personal agents in Skyrim. She will recruit any follower she comes across (with the likely exception of Eola the Cannibal) and install her favorites as steward and Blades. Those followers are essential to her success in combat, as the character is comparatively weak without them.

Use crafting skills to increase your income. Grind out potions and enchanted items for personal use and sale whenever possible. Coupled with speech perks, this will allow you to purchase homes with ease, and you can construct greenhouses to keep up your stock of alchemy supplies. Get to dwarven smithing as quickly as possible and grind out bows, then slap on some weak enchantments to increase their value.

    Civil War

    Main Questline

The Final Descent (Help uncover the truth about an East Empire Company cover-up)

Rise in the East (Re-establish trade in Windhelm after the Civil War)

Thane/Housing Quests in all the holds.

Noster's Helmet (Helping out a fellow Legionnaire).

    Optional/Secondary

Dawnguard (DawnGuard side, vampires are bad for business)

    Companions

Artifact Quests that don't require evil actions. (The East Empire Company collects and deals in daedric artifacts and powerful magic items.)

Adelaisa's main combat skills are Archery, Light Armor, and One-Handed. I added unperked Shield to give her additional defense. As the character's defense is quite weak due to the general reliance on Imperial Light Armor, it is better to rely on the bow and use your follower as a tank, then assist them by circling around to the flank and using your sword. Use fortify potions to enhance your combat skills and keep yourself healed. Adelaisa will not use poisons on humans or mer as she sees it as dishonorable, but she will have no problem with using them on beasts or Falmer, so keep a small supply handy for those occasions. Lastly, use your limited smithing and enchanting to make sure you have the best equipment available.

Populated Civil War and Immersive Patrols will give you hostile Stormcloak patrols to fight from time to time. PCS creates large scale battles on the boarders between Stormcloak and Imperial territory, most notably at Loreius Farm north of Whiterun, and near Hilgrund's Tomb in the Rift. Both provide opportunities for some intense combat, but be advised that attempting to wipe out a Stormcloak army on your own is extremely difficult. It is strongly suggested that you make use of the Imperial forces that spawn on the battlefield and look for isolated targets to engage.

For the event I made use of Wildcat, a combat overhaul mod that requires more stamina usage for bows and attacks, adds specific limb damage, and gives bonuses for flank and rear attacks. The mod makes battles against mobs more difficult, as you are more likely to be flanked, but it also makes boss battles easier if you rely on companions. If you use this mod, I would recommend an 0-2-1 spread on magika/health/stamina, as you are more likely to sustain heavy damage.

This is a good attempt for a first build, but one thing that really popped out at me after quickly skimming through the build is the repeated use of the same picture of Imperial vs. Stormcloaks. I understand that it's a big focal point of the character/build, but even so, there are lots pictures on google images, DeviantArt, Pinterest, etc, that you can use to relay the same message while looking a lot better. If you don't have access to those sites, you can always use your own screenshots or request screenshots. I would also recommend fixing your tag, I don't think you spaced it out properly. Other than that, good job on your first build.

Adelaisa is a basic bow and one-handed fighter whose real strengths lie in her ability to successfully profit from her adventures.

This is an excellent concept, and your choice of follower is an un-sung star of the game. I think you've done a great job of bringing out the depth of her mindset with that quote above as a summary, extrapolating from that a gameplay approach that is rewarding.

Adelaisa's other goal is to further the interests of the East Empire Company, and as such, she will amass any political titles or economic benefits as they become available. Securing thaneships and houses is essential; the latter can be seen as trading posts or offices in each of the holds.

By combining story and gameplay, the character has substance, and a goal that feels meaningful and a reason to pursue. I bet enjoying the fruits of your labour was also a reward, to wield those thane-gifted weapons or use that shield quested for increases their value and makes them mementos worthy of hanging upon the walls, lasting memories. And I reckon the quest in which you fnd yourself in the Thalmor Embassy has the additional benefits of being surrounded by many allies :)

Thanks. I was a bit pressed for time getting this posted, so I didn't get a chance to add all the pictures I wanted. There are more on my modder's log.

Nice job dallan007, very glad to see this up.  As you mentioned you weren't able to add all the pictures you intended, i hope you get the chance to add them in.

It is a solid build and an interesting one because it looks realistic if that is the right word. Also I agree with what Paws said in his comment above.
