    The Three Brothers - Revisited

The Three Brothers are three great warriors, all with their unique ways of fighting.

I finally got around to completing the whole build, took a while, but it's done! My first build is done!

Okay, so let me explain who the Three Brothers are. The Three Brothers were orphans in the same Orphanage in High Rock. They were inseperable, until they all got adopted on the exact same day, all into different families.
The point of this build, is that you can choose which Brother's story you want to follow, which build you want to play.
I recommend looking at all three Brothers to see which one seems the most fun to play!
The first one is Bolder the Blue, the second one is Gelbert the Green, and the third one is Ragnar the Red!

Also, DG = Dawnguard DLC, DB = Dragonborn DLC

The first Brother, Boldor the Blue.

This is the oldest Brother, Boldor the Blue. Boldor was the wisest of the three. He has always been a bookworm and loves to walk in the woods and study nature. He uses a Bound Sword and wields Destructive forces of Nature in his other hand. He wears heavy armor to protect himself, but it isn’t his primary defence. His real defence lies in his vast amount of healing potions to replenish his life force. He also enchants armor to further help him protect himself and/or deal more damage.

Race: Breton (Advised, other races are of course on the table.)

Stone: Lord (With the innate 25% magic resistance of Bretons, this quickly gives you a good wall against other mages.)

Stat DistributionMagicka/Health/Stamina 5/4/1 (Drop stamina after you reach 200. Then make it 5/5/0)

    Major skills: Destruction, One-Handed, Conjuration

Minor skills: Heavy Armor, Alchemy, Enchanting

Weapon: Bound Sword, Mace of Molag Bal is optional if you choose to be a vampire

Armor: Helmet of the Unburned, Enchanted Banded Iron Armor , Enchanted Steel Nordic Gauntles, Enchanted Ancient Nord Boots

Gaulder Amulet, Ring of Magic Resistance/Ring of Alchemy

Equipment: Azura's Black Star (For enchanting)

    Quests/Factions:

Main Quest - Once discovering he is Dragonborn, he wants to become the most powerful Dragonborn he can be, wanting to master the Dragon language and defeating the evil dragon Alduin.

College of Winterhold - Boldor is a mage, so this isn't that hard to understand.

Azura's Star - To acquire Azura's Star. You will choose to keep it blackened for your own benefit, since deadric princes to not interest you that much

Forbidden Legend - After the effects in Saarthal you grow curious as to who these Gauldur are.

Dragonborn DLC - I chose to serve Hermaeus Mora, to acquire more knowledge.

Transcerning the Transmundane - A relic of Mora, the more knowledge the better!

Companions - You are a Battlemage, just not some "Dumb brute who swings swords at anything that moves", as Boldor said. So he does not join them.

Dawnguard DLC - You seek knowledge to become more powerful, but to do this via vampirism if your choice. I opted not to.

Thieves Guild - Hiding in the shadows and stealing a few coins here and there? Not the way Boldor does it.

Dark Brotherhood - Boldor despises them. They love power, just like Boldor, but seek it through wrong means, and therefore decides to rid Skyrim of all of these killingmachines.

    Perk spread at level 50

Combat - Boldor is a smart Breton. From long-distance he reigns destruction magic onto his foes, whenever they get up close he finishes them off with his bound sword. He sets up runetraps for enemies at corners. sometimes to even initiate fights. When he is getting low on health or other resources, he uses his potions to get back up on his feet and continue the fight. If he is facing melee opponents, he will try to weaken them as much as he can before they reach him, and then hacks away at them while putting  frost runes down between their feet. Archers and mages will be taken care of by a ball of fire to the face, or a lightning shock to the kneecap!

Special Moves: Boldor invokes the memories of this brothers to lay waste or retreat in the battlefield.

Invoke Ragnar Boldor charges forward and with a quick combination, makes sure a foe halfway on his way to Sovnguard before he can recover. Flame Cloak + Incinerate + Whirlwind Sprint + Critical Charge

Invoke Gelbert Boldor shouts with such a force that his enemies are hurdled into the air. During their immobilization he drinks his potions to replenish his energy, and charges into battle when they smack back onto the ground.

    Cyclone + Healing Potion/Stamina Potion/Magicka Potion

Celestial Destruction Boldor decides to swiftly end whoever is trying to oppose him. Throwing Runes all around him as a small defence, he then summons a giant blizzard. While the blizzard rages, he flings Frost Runes around, exploding into icicles.

Deploy Runes around you + Blizzard + Frost Runes + Frost Cloak

    Backstory:

Boldor was the oldest boy from a young group of friends that had all been raised in the same orphanage. They weren't real brothers, but because they developed such a strong bond, it felt like it. When he was adopted at the age of 12 by a Breton family, he vowed to his brothers that one day he would meet them again. His new family was nice. His Breton father and mother were kind people. The mother was an alchemist with her own little shop, while the father was a local guard for a prison. His mother taught him basic Alchemy, and often sent him into the woods to gather some simple ingredients, while his father taught him some novice moves a swordsman would use. One day, on the marketsquare, a conjurer had a little show. Celestial rabbits would appear out of hats, and he would summon swords and axes out of thin air. This amazed Boldor, and after the show he asked if the conjurer could teach him the swordtrick. He wanted a special blade that he could always call upon when needed. The conjurer however could not teach him. He was leaving the next day and would not return to the town for a few months. He did however have an old spell tome of the spell laying around, and gave it to the aspiring Breton boy. When Boldor turned 21, he set off to travel around Tamriel to search for the most wonderful alchemical ingredients to bring back to his mother, in hopes of getting his mother some extra income. When at a local inn close to the borders of Skyrim, he heard a bard sing a song about "Ragnar the Red" who got beheaded. Thinking it was his brother, he travels to Skyrim in hope to find his brother and lay him to a peaceful rest. During the trip to Skyrim he ventures to deep into the woods and gets caught on the border and is carted off to Helgen.

Now it is time for Brother number 2, Gelbert the Green!
    My personal favourite :D

Gelbert the Green has a hard time wielding a blade, for he is blind in his right eye. Therefore, he doesn't use any weapon in his right hand, at all. Still, he needs protection, so he carries a shield in his left hand, using it to block attacks, and smash some faces!

Race: Imperial (Voice of the Emperor is a sweet lifesaver early on, and the starting bonuses into your skills are a great help.)

    Stone: Warrior/Lord/Steed

Major Skills: Block, Restoration, Heavy Armor
Minor Skills: Smithing, Enchanting, Speech (Because selling enchanted armor is a moneymaker)

Stat distribution: M/H/S per 10 levels, 3/4/3 (Stop at 200 stamina, Stop at 250 Magicka, rest goes into Health)

Equipment: This will need some explanation. This is also basically your combat part.

There are multiple shields with unique effects. I used all of them, to keep it fresh, and simply because these shields all have a great enchantment which can be used in different situations. Explanation as to when, where and why:

Aetherial Shield - This shield has the enchantment of turning any bashed target into a fleeing ghost for 15 seconds. The bashed target is invulnerable during this time. A great way to get rid of some enemies to give you a few moments to heal up or dispose of than one pesky archer/mage in the distance.

Auriel's Shield - This is great to use for 2 reasons. One, the effect it has. Being able to power bash with the effectiveness of a full Fus Ro Dah, is great fun and very powerful. Two, if you are surrounded by melee enemies, and don't have room to get away/block most of the attacks/losing health faster that you can restore it, it gives you the option to blast everyone away to give you some recovering time. Of course it can also be used to dispose of enemies even faster.

Dawnguard Rune Shield - This is great against vampires and undead. It does +10 extra bash damage against vampires, so during the Dawnguard questline this is by far the best shield to use. Also, while maintaining block stance, it surrounds you with a sun aura that does 10 points of sun damage to anyone in range. It does drain your stamina slowly, but that won't be a problem after getting the Respite perk, more on that perk later.

Shield of Solitude - This shield has one of the highest armor ratings of shields in the game, so a great shield overall. The enchantment is also good to disenchant, because it carries a stronger magic resistance effect than any other magic resistance ring or necklace there is. The effect is also a whole new version of Magic Resistance, which gives you the option to enchant say, a ring, with 2 different magic resistances, at 100 Enchanting with 5/5 Enchanter and the Extra Effect perk giving you 45% magic resistance from just one item.

Spellbreaker - This is the Anti-Mage shield. With a ward that absorbs 50 points of damage, that needs no soul gems to recharge, it is great to use against mages. It also blocks dragonbreath attacks for the first 50 damage. I used this while doing the College of Winterhold questline, giving me a much nicer team dealing with all the frost spells thrown at me.

Targe of the Blooded - Even though it has a lower armor rating that most shields, therefore doing lower bash damage, the bleed effect it applies is sweet. If you bash someone it makes them bleed 3 points of damage over 5 seconds, so that is 15 damage every 5 seconds. This is great against heavily armored targets such as Bandit Chiefs, Draugr and other armored enemies. It widdles their health down while you bash away!

The armor you wear is up to you. Since we are investing in Smithing and Enchanting, you can either use unique armore pieces and sets, or create your own Set, which I did.

The enchantments you place on your armor is completly up to you, but I will give an example of what I used:

Headpiece: Fortify Magicka - Fortify Restoration

Chestpiece: Fortify Health Regeneration - Fortify Stamina Regeneration

Gloves: Fortify Block - Fortify Smithing

Boots: Fortify Stamina - Fortify Carry Weight

Ring: Resist Magic - Resist Magic (Shield of Solitude variant)

Necklace: Fortify Health - Fortify Stamina

There are 2 other necklaces and 1 ring that are pretty sweet to use as well. The Locket of Saint Jiub gives you +50 stamina and +50 carrying capacity, plus a little bonus armor. If you find yourself either overencumbered or out of stamina too often, this necklace is a nice addition. The Gauldur Amulet is also nice, giving +30 points to health, stamina and magicka. The ring is the Ring of Namira. It gives you +50 stamina and the ability to eat people, granting extra health and extra health regeneration for a short moment. This doesn't really fit Gelbert though, so it is your choice.

    Spell usage:

Restoration is a holy part of this build. It grants us extra stamina through the Respite perk; "Healing spells also restore Stamina". Bashing costs stamina, healing restores stamina, pretty obvious right? A lot more bashing!!

The spells I used are listed here.

    Defensive:

Healing / Fast Healing / Close Wounds / Circe of Protection / Guardian Circle

    Offensive:

All Turn Undead spells are optional, I used them sometimes, because I found that it makes Draugr Crypts very easy, too easy.

Turn Lesser Undead / Sun Fire (DG) / Poison Rune (DB) / Turn Undead / Vampire's Bane / Stendarr's Aura / Turn Greater Undead / Bane of the Undead

    Perk spread at level 50

    Factions:

Bards College - This is the reason you came to Skyrim! Join them as soon as you can, and completing their quests are top priority!

College of Winterhold - When hearing of the College you want to join in order to further your Restoration skills. Once there and getting quite involved with all the things going on, you decide to help them as much as you can.

Dark Brotherhood - Gelbert is not a homicidal maniac, he protects the people, so he killed them all, and collected the gold of course.

Thieves Guild - This is your choice. If Gelbert is a bard who also loves money (kinda go hand in hand, don't they) he can join. His motivation will be to try and turn the Thieves Guild into a more positive guild, trying to use it's power and noteriaty to cleanse Skyrim of political corruption and other wrongdo-ers. Becoming a Nightingale will please Gelbert, because he loves the birds for they produce sweet melodies.

Companions - I joined them, but cured my Lycanthropy when I could. Gelbert is after all, a protecter and a warrior. Not a milkdrinker.

Dawnguard - Sided with the Dawnguard, because becoming a vampire does not fit Gelbert at all, and you miss out on some great things for this build.

    Quests:

The Book of Love - Aid Lady Mara!

Forbidden Legend - For the Gaulder Amulet

Lost Relic - Gives you access to all the sweet Dawnguard equipment!

The Man who Cried Wolf - Shield of Solitude

Lost to The Ages - Aetherial Shield :D

The Only Cure - The Only Cure To Defeating Frost Mages, Spellbreaker <3

    "Special Moves"

'Move, Bandit, get out the way!' - Gelbert sprints, shield raised, head first into the frey, knocking all enemies out of his path.

Shield Charge....... Yeah, this perk is just so much fun it is classified to a special move

A Nightingale's Charm - Gelbert sings a wonderful melody, calming everyone nearby who could hear his powerful and compelling voice. While everyone is entranced, Gelbert re-asseses the situation.

Voice of the Emporer + Close Wounds + Reposition yourself to a possibly more advantageous place

A Trip Around The World - Gelbert enrages, shouting and bashing everyone nearby, sending them flying into the distance.

Unrelenting Force + Auriel's Shield Fully Charged + Power Bash

Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust - Gelbert invokes the holy powers of Lady Mara to rid the area of all Undead.

Bane of the Undead + Vampire's Bane + Dawnguard Rune Shield aura + Stendarr's Aura

    Backstory:

Gelbert has always loved singing, dancing and reading. He used to read books together with Boldor, and write his own stories, which he would then read to his younger brother Ragnar. He would sing and dance on the theater nights at the orphanage, and all the other children would cheer and laugh at his singing, dancing and comedic acts! Gelbert was a happy boy, and when he got adopted, his joy shot through the roof. Of course he was sad he was leaving his brothers, but he found peace in that situation, because they both got adopted as well. Gelbert was adopted by an Imperial man and woman. Sweet people, owning a house in Daggerfall. His father was a bard, who performed at a local inn, and once a week performed in a local theater. His father was a loved man, for his humor, his talent and his wonderful smile. His mother was a healer. She worked at a temple of Mara, healing the sick and tending to wounded workers that had injured themselves during construction. When she was home she would teach Gelbert simple Restoration magic, and Gelbert would practice healing small animals surrounding their house. One day, Gelbert was out and about, when a bandit raid hit the village. An arrow flew through the air, straight into Gelbert's right eye, and Gelbert fainted immediately. When he woke up, he was lying in his bed. His mother sat beside him, and told him what had happened. The bandits were quickly driven away by the local militia, who happened to be staying at the inn. His father had seen Gelbert fall to the ground, and had brought him home immediately. His mother had then tried to heal his eye, but it was beyond repair. Gelbert would be blind in his right eye forever. His father then proposed that Gelbert travel to Solitude in Skyrim, to join the Bards College. Gelbert quickly forgot about his eye and started planning his journey. Two weeks later he was off to Solitude. Just before he went his father stopped him at the door, handing him a simple shield. His father said that this should protect him against any wildlife that he might encounter, and could serve as a makeshift weapon if he really had to. And so, with his blind eye, makeshift weapon-shield and plenty of songs to sing, Gelbert set off to Skyrim. When he crossed the border, he got caught in an ambush between two groups, was knocked out, and awoke in a cart to Helgen.

Last but not least, Ragnar the Red.

Ragnar is the youngest of the three, but by far the strongest.
However, he is EXTREMELY DUMB, hates magic and loves to kill.

Before we continue, I recommend you read his small backstory at the bottem of this build.
This will help you understand the theme I built around Ragnar, and through that understand the overal build a lot better.

Race: Nord (Battlecry fits this build perfectly.)
    Stone: Lord Stone
Stat Distribution: Put everything into health. Because Ragnar can't heal himself. He can't read the Restoration books, and whenever he tries to mix a potion something explodes.
Major skills: Two Handed, One Handed, Light Armor
    Minor skills: Archery, Block

Now let's see what Ragnar uses to satisfy his.. Urge..

Now that we know that, we can move on to the armor.

Since we don't have either Smithing or Enchanting,
I used whatever armor I thought was both evil looking and useful,
but I ended up trying to create the coolest look I could.

This is an example of what I wore:

Head: Shrouded Hood (+25% sneaking, but Ragnar doesn't sneak. He can't. He doesn't know how to.)

Chestpiece: Vampire Armor (Red version) (It's Red. Ragnar likes red.)

Hands: Ancient Shrouded Gloves (Sneak attacks? Ragnar doesn't sneak attack. Ragnar just killing.)

Boots: Blackguard Boots (Ragnar isn't a pickpocket. Ragnar rather kill, and then take the gold.)

Necklace: Locket of Saint Jiub (Ragnar think Jiub is a god, so he wears it to please Jiub)

Ring: Ring of Namira (Ragnar get's hungry from all this fighting. Dinner time.)

Make any changes to the outfit you wish to change. This is not the most effective armorset. I recommend Nightingale armor, Predator's Grace, or the complete deathbrand armor set. But the Deathbrand armor isn't red. So that's why I chose not to wear it.

    Factions:

Main Quest - Ragnar is Dragonborn, but he doesn't know what it actually means. The guards just told him he could shout, so he shouts really hard when he gets mad. It seems to work.

Dark Brotherhood - Ragnar joined the Dark Brotherhood for two reasons, and two reasons only. They like to kill, and they like the colour red. The perfect place for Ragnar.

Companions - The Companions like to fight. Ragnar likes to fight. Perfect fit. Ragnar also becomes a werewolf. More killing!

College of Winterhold - Smart people annoy Ragnar. Everytime they talk and say things he doesn't understand, it hurts his brain. The College is filled with smart people, so Ragnar doesn't want to join.

Thieves Guild - Ragnar likes the Thieves Guild. Not because they like red, because they don't. Neither do they like killing, frankly they frown upon it. Ragnar likes the Thieves Guild because 'Thief' and 'Guild' are two very hard words for Ragnar, but he can pronounce them. He decides to join them purely based on the fact that he can pronounce their name. Happy Ragnar.

Dawnguard - The Dawnguard like to kill vampires. The Dawnguard also like the colour red. Vampires like to kill anything. Ragnar prefers the vampires because of that. Ragnar also becomes a vampire, because vampires are red, and werewolves are not. So, he let's Harkon take away his werewolf powers for new red vampire powers. He does take a crossbow from the Dawnguard's Armory though, because he likes the sound it makes when he pulls the lever.

Dragonborn - Some cultist called Ragnar "Deciever". Ragnar doesn't know what that means, but it doesn't sound nice, so he decides to kill them. He then decides to kill whoever sent them, this 'Miraak' man, as well.

Civil War - The Stormcloaks are blue, the Imperials are red. Ragnar joins the Imperials.

    Quests:

Every Daedric Quest - Ragnar likes killing. Deadric princes like it as well. So he decides to help them as long as he gets a reward. Hopefully an axe. Ragnar loves axes.

Any quest that involves either the colour red, or involves killing. If the quest does not entice the colour red, or killing, you can decide to either kill the questgiver or let him live.

    "Special moves":

Stay Dead - Ragnar can't tell when someone is dead, so he hits them 2 or 3 times after they stop moving, just to make sure.

    Auto attack

Stop talking - Ragnar gets annoyed by all the talking these bandits do, so he shouts really loud, and kills everyone while they run away.

Battle Cry + Equip weapon of choice + Kill everything

'Combo' - Ragnar tries something difficult. He tries to use every weapon he has to kill the enemies. He almost always succeeds. Sometimes he doesn't get past step three.

Crossbow shot + Bloodskal Blade Energy Blast + Ebony Blade sideways power attack + Small and Tiny Ebony Blade power attack + Harkon's Sword and the Big Spikey Mace power attack + Axe of choice to finish them off

True Rage - Ragnar thinks of all the terrible things in life, like magic, difficult words and his dead parents, and transforms into a terrible monster, killing everything that tries to kill him.

Vampire Lord power, proceed to kill everything that tries to kill you

Move! - Ragnar throws someone to the side if they don't want to move. If they still don't want to move he shouts them away.

Two Handed Sprint + Shield Charge + Unrelenting Force

If you don't know the Shield Charge Glitch with melee weapons, there are tons of guides on how to do so either on youtube or other forums about skyrim.

    Backstory:

Ragnar has always been extremely dumb. He has never been able to read. Not because he wasn't taught, he just simply can't read. Boldor tried to teach him for years untill their adoption, but to no avail. Whenever Ragnar tried to read, and failed, he got angry. He would smash things, break things, sometimes throw his bed through the room. Ragnar could do that, throw his bed, at the age of 8, because he was insanely strong. When he was 4, a small troll wandered down the mountain to the orphanage where Bolder, Gelbert and Ragnar lived. Ragnar saw the Troll and walked up to it. The Troll grabbed Ragnar, bit him in his leg, and threw him in a hay pile. The Troll had transferred some Troll genetics through his saliva when biting Ragnar. The saliva from a Troll caused more pain, so Ragnar decided to lick of the saliva off of his leg because it hurt. His body absorbed the genetics from the Troll, which entered his bloodstream. In the coming years the Troll's genetics enhanced Ragnar's muscle growth. Ragnar got very strong, and could easily beat a grown man at arm wrestling at the mere age of 7.When he got adopted Ragnar was happy. The family that had adopted him lived in a red house, and Ragnar got a red bed. His father, a Nord mercenary, was a nice man who was often hired to escort rich politicians through the dangerous woods surrounding their small red house. The woods were infested with spiders, bears, trolls, sabre cat's and werewolves, so escorting these people netted the father quite a good amount of gold. His mother, a Redguard woman, was an artist. She painted every day. She would paint pictures of her homeland, a vast red desert with a red moon. Ragnar started to really like the colour red. But one day, Father did not come home from his escort mission. Mother started to worry. Mother left the house to search the nearby area for Father. Ragnar, 17, had to stay home for if Father came home while Mother was away. Ragnar waited for a long time, when he suddendly heard a loud roar, a man and woman screaming, and then silence. Ragnar waited for 5 days, but Mother and Father never came home. Ragnar decided on day six, that they might've gotten lost in the woods. He packed some things and went for a broad walk, but soon he got lost, he just didn't know it. He walked around for 2 days, when he reached some mountains. Maybe Father and Mother are hiding in a cave, Ragnar thought. Ragnar travelled through the mountains, but out of nowhere a blue coloured man ran at him. Ragnar fainted, and awoke in a cart to Helgen... The first thing he realized was that his parents were most likely dead.

Want to check out my other build on Tamrielvault?:

    The Goblin

Congrats on posting your first build Caesar12321  I imagine the other two brothers are still in the works?  If i might make some suggestions...

I would change the title of the build, first off Character Builds need to say so in the title for example this could be called Character Build:  The Three Brothers you could then organize this into three sections Section 1 Boldor the Blue, Section 2 Ragnar the Red, Section 3 Gelbert the Green.  It would enforce the link between the three brothers and better portray their story as one whole.

As for Boldor the Blue, since he's the only brother we've seen so far, you mention that he wears enchanted armor, and you have maxed out the Enchanting skill but you don't tell us what enchantments to use.

Sup man! The idea of the title and stuff is good, the two brothers have already been designed but haven't been able to come around and post them due to exams, but I will have them posted either tonight or tommorow night, but will take your constructive criticism and put it to good use!

It is my first build, but my second one has already 'dropped', The Goblin. You can find that under the Summoner Tag!

    Thanks again :D

Archers and mages will be taken care of by a ball of fire to the face, or a lightning shock to the kneecap

That line cracks me up xD

Congrats on the first build--I somehow missed it when it first came out.

    Haha, thanks!

It will be worked on though, I posted it before actually looking at it like hmm, what could be better etc. I was just excited to post it. so somewhere this week it will get quite a big expansion.

I'm bumping this build due to some recent build restorations pushing it back in the feed.

I gues that does sound a bit cryptic xD

The Project Restoration team is replacing images from old builds that didn't port over from the last site. When we finish a build, we add the tags and leave a comment that lets the builder know that work was done on her or his build. Those actions put the build at the top of the front page (which, of course, pushes other builds on the front page down). The problem here is that if I restore 10 builds, the builds that used to be on the front page get buried and pushed back to the next page, and since most people don't check go back very many pages, a brand new build can easily get lost.

We aren't supposed to bump builds unless there is a very good reason--I felt this was a good reason ;D

  • January 19, 2017

I finally finished the entire build! All three brothers are now available! I hope it is a good build, any tips/constructive criticism is always welcome to help me improve on my builds!

Yes, I completly understand! Renewing those is important, nice project as well. I finished the whole build today, took me a few hours to put basically 3 builds into 1, but I managed. Hopefully it is a good build!
