I use both sites so I'm not going to bash either one, but I've always wondered, why do so many people who use the Vault dislike the Skyforge and the ones who run it? I mean, apart from the original split following the platform change, I haven't seen much conflict, just the hatred continuing even after both sides moved on. Also, apart from the Riddles of Humility, were there other instances of content theft and disruption in Vault activity? I usually don't keep up with these things so I'm still confused.

Some of us are just being protective of what we do here. And why take all this fiery action? Because there are some people (not everyone), currently on the other site (whose names I will not mention in order to not seed conflict over there), who at times make auxiliary accounts on the TamrielVault. These accounts are under different names and through them, they try to disrupt the activity here by posting rude and disrespectful comments on discussions which content creators have worked hard to come up with. If you think we're paranoid, let me tell you that we tracked the IPs on these accounts and we know exactly who we're dealing with. I'm not a fan of interacting with these shady people but I will not stand idle as they try to troll or insult the hard work of both new and old members here.

As a member of both TamrielVault and SkyForge, let me know of the other claimed instances of stealing. Being that the riddle thread was cited to be "RogueSilver's from the TamrielVault" it seems that one is fine and follows the new rules. Are there others someone stole or maybe another site that has stuff? Let me know how I can help.

I understand you're partial to the Skyforge, but surely you think it's fair to say that using my thread without permission can be considered "stealing". I appreciate that I was cited, but it was still published in an environment that I don't wish to have ANY of my content a part of. Simply asking if I was fine with it would have avoided this entire incident to start with.

I am partial to common sense, but in terms of sites I use 6-7 sites ... not just these 2.

But just to clarify - are we using this rule just as an in house thing or is this a double standard with which we should apply differently in all other settings? Surely deviantart artists or other site content creators were notified about us using images other people create? I know I sure didn't notify them.

If it is just something we want to abide by and ignore other site's copyright and usage of content, that's fine.

Word! I am not an admin in any way on the Skyforge but I will definitely keep an eye out especially for any really popular ESO content that might get copied in any poor mannered way. I'll let ya know.

Clearly you're just here to troll. Go crawl back under your bridge.

Actually, as a member of this community I was trying to figure things out and what this would mean for our own content - including mine which includes work from other sites as does hundreds, if not thousands, of other posts here. Just trying to play it safe if that is something we will be instituting as a rule for everything we post which may be smart. Might give me a reason to actually fix these builds and their formatting!

As of right now the rule we are supposed to be discussing specifically targets, exclusively, work from our site (tamrielvault.com) that is posted on other sites. Currently there is, I believe, no explicit rule against plagiarism from other sites. Not that it is either encouraged or accepted, of course, just that there is no specific rule against it. This is quoted from Edana on page 3 (emphasis mine):

    Edana said:

I hear you, Soly. The rule states "from this site". As far as we know, we've never had a problem with members stealing written works from other sites and posting here, and so we have no rule for it. But in the past six months we've now had three instances of this. The other two times it was creative content and writing, and once it was by a member of this site.

Now obviously we can't directly discipline non-members if they steal content, but previously we have reached out to them to address the plagiarism. That's why this rule is specific to people reposting content from here. It's problem we have been encountering that we didn't used to have, so we're addressing it. We try our best to make sure this site remains a place that fosters the creative process for our members, and that includes protecting their work.

I'm closing this thread. It's clearly gotten out of hand.

This new rule is meant to protect our member's content, and we will do just that. No theft, no problem. Play by the rules or find somewhere else to play.
