TES 6 Not in Development (Pete Hines, sort of)

Well, it came as no surprise that Bethesda did not tease TES6. (bow your head for a moment of silence) Although we hoped for the best, most people did not have high expectations to hear anything TES6-related this year at E3.

The day after Bethesda's underwhelming conference, Pete Hines provided an interview with Game Slice. In that interview, he stated that TES6 was "down, down, down the road" and "that they have at least two major titles they are working on before we’re going to get to Elder Scrolls 6."

You can see the full interview here (the Hines' comment about TES6 begins at 9:01):

To make matters worse, PC Gamer picked up the interview (LINK). Immediately following, a very interesting Twitter exchange occurred between a TES fan and Pete Hines:

It's hard to see, but the article on the right is dated June 14, 2016. The article on the left was published on Monday.

To be fair, Pete Hines never directly said that TES6 was not in development. He said that Beth has "two major titles they are working on before we’re going to get to Elder Scrolls 6" But what does that mean? Does it mean that TES6 is not even in development? If so, my heart would break. Does it mean that it's in development but Beth is not planning on a release until these two new titles have been released?

    What do you think? DISCUSS.

Jesus Christ, brother. Can they not make up their mind yet? One minute ES6 is in development next it is nowhere near developing and so forth. Whatever these "Big Titles" are they better be good or something people really want, because this shit is getting old, and it better not be Starfield or whatever because I have heard a "confirmed leak" that it will combine it and Fallout and TES all together in one universe. On a side note still excited about The Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein 2.

Didn't someone post someting like this last year? If I remember correctly, it was a picture of Hines (On Twitter) saying that ES:VI isn't in development yet, then I think there was also video somewhere of him saying it "won't come next year, or the year after that, or the year after that" (Or something to that effect, though I could be wrong).

But yeah, if Bethesda's waiting to release two other games before working on ES:VI (And epecially if it isn't even in development yet), then I think it'll only be released in the 2020's at least. Which will actually make it the biggest gap between releases (The previous being 6 years from Daggerfall to Morrowind).

Also, I just want to say, not having the technology is just a rubbish excuse. Make ES:VI with current tech, then make VII with this whimsical non-existent stuff you're waiting for. Sorry, I just wanted a short rant about that.

So to the point, I wouldn't get my hopes up about it being released anytime soon. Not while they're still milking Skyrim for everything it's got, at least.

I find it odd they always seem to play the technology card.  It's been like this back to Skyrim and even Oblivion if I recall.  I don't know how they can be thinking about something where the technology doesn't even exist yet.  That would be like the auto industry having said back in the 70's, well, we're not going to build another car until this "self-driving" technology comes into existence never knowing if it ever would and if it had even been thought about 50 years ago.  LOL.

Not to be the nieve optimistic one, but maaaaybe they're trying to generate a conversation around ES6 so they can reveal something in the near future.

    Insanely unlikely, but eh.

Bethesda has made it clear that they have no intentions of giving us anything TES6 related until they have milked the absolute shit out of Skyrim. The game has been rereleased so many times that I've lost count. As we can see with his "Creation Club" nonsense, they are going to try and make the latest entry of the franchise last another 5+ years. I have lost faith in them, and I believe that many others are the same way. They've forgotten where they've come from. No one wants a new title from Bethesda. They need to get their shit together.

My prediction is a title teaser for TES6 in 2025 E3 and a release date of 2027.

UUgh...I just don't get any of this, first off we've had this discussion before. We knew they were developing two original IP's for a fair while so this isn't a surprise. I think it's stranger that they're working on games likes Wolfenstein and Evil Within instead of their two IP's, but this is not news at all. Bethesda is allowed to make whatever they want, if that happens to be TES: VI great, if they make a few games between then and now they're absolutely entitled to. It isn't like they've been pretending that it's right around the corner, we've know that it's going to be pretty far off and that they want to work on other stuff for at least a year now...

This technology thing is bullshit, haven't anyone of them visited the Skyrim Nexus? If the graphics aren't like the Witcher 3 or some other game, don't worry, our modders are on it. I saw modded games that look far, far better then Skyrim SE, next gen in fact.

This is meant for any readers that work in Bethesda:

WHAT THE FU*K?????? Wolfenstein and The Evil Within are good games, but fu*k that! We all just want Elder Scrolls 6. That's what made you the biggest game company in the world. I've been playing Skyrim for the past 4 years, and I still haven't passed the main questline. You must make a new Elder Scrolls game. NOW!

Hey, I wanted I Wolfenstein 2 and an Evil Within 2, okay. Sorry for being in a minority of those games.

I like those games as well, I just think that a franchise as important to Bethesda as the Elder Scrolls should have priority over Wolf 2 and Evil Within.
