  Not 100% sure but in that vid he shows energy weapon forging. I think it has a perk requirement (science/gun nut etc)

  You can create energy weapons but from what I've seen you can't make the ammo for them. Which is a little strange. You also can't make the ammo from Far Harbor.

  That's odd, the only reason I could think of that they wouldn't allow us to build ammo hails from a lore perspective, but given they're allowing us to build Vaults like they were done 200 years ago, it doesn't make sense. Perhaps it's an oversight?

  Might be. Come to think of it Scrounger didn't have support for energy ammo either until a patched added it.

  I can't really see them stopping us from a lore perspective, since we have access to the institute at at least one point in the game. And if we are able to create the things that fire use them, then why shouldn't we be able to create the ammo?

  I'd be a little surprised if it wasn't updated in a patch. I highly doubt lore has anything to do with it. Surprising to me that they omitted fusion cells on this first run.
