'It was then that Theseus looked upon the creature, and naught had it a head of a man, but in it's place, sat the head of a bull. A vile creature, it was. It had a body of large proportions, it's chest rippling with muscles, and it's great bull's head was adorned with brown fur. It had dark, empty eyes'

    Recounts of Tales Lost

The concept behind this build was simple. Something I could get behind, and work on, and actually get finished. When I first got hold of Skyrim, I was diagnosed with a chronic case of restartitis. Most of my builds don't even see past Bleak Falls Barrow! Over the past few months, and back on Ning under a different account, I constantly posted Workshop content, then had a new idea, and deleted the old one. Cycle Repeats. Either way, it was hard to create builds I truly enjoyed, so the idea behind this build was to make a simple, fun, and unique build that utilises character customization, combat, roleplaying, and storytelling and blends them together smoothly. I may perhaps do an entire series on Greek Mythology, but I've learnt to stay as far away as possible from Series as my own experience has taught me.

The Minotaur is perhaps the most famous monster of all time, tied only with Medusa, maybe. He was the spawn of a mortal woman, and a bull. Yes. You heard me correctly. Pasiphaë, queen of Crete, abandoned her husband Minos because she really wanted to bang-a-bull. Anyway, her child was an abomination of Bull and Man, born with the head of a bull and the body of a man, he was shunned and hated. He was sent to live in a labyrinth, where he ate gorgeous young maidens and strong young men as tributes. More on his backstory later.

The easiest way to replicate this was to use an Argonian. They have a few skill bonuses that fit with the build, but mainly they're the only ones that work in terms of aesthetic. They have horns, snouts, brownish skin, and being without fur isn't too bad. Light Armor and Restoration are both thoroughly used, and Alteration is a minor skill. Histskin is unbelievably helpful, as it pretty much renders damage useless. You become an absolute tank, which is perfect for the Minotaur.

'I first met Horns-Of-Penetration, I was surprised by his kindness. He was tender, as well as kind and compassionate. I had wounded my leg, you see, and he bandaged it up with bark from a nearby tree. He carried me the whole way back to Markath, to the temple. From there, I told him he was welcome, but he declined, and walked out the door. I've loved him ever since'

    Senna, Priestess of Dibella

One of the main inspirations for this build was my love of Greek Mythology; I absolutely adore the tales of the heroes and their adventures, the horrid monsters, and the damsels always in distress. Among the greatest of these monsters lies the Minotaur, a monster man with the head of a bull. I have long wanted to make a build on him, but only now could I really be bothered. I wanted to mix the lore in with Elder Scrolls as well, so I have decided to make him related/relatable to Morihaus, the first Minotaur. There's a fantastic build by Dragonborn about Morihaus, and I'll link that in here somewhere! I advise you to read it; It's fantastic. However, I wanted my Minotaur to be a lot more like the ancient greek myth it's based on.

'There are four things I enjoy in life. The First, is my beloved wife, Senna. She is gorgeous. The Second, is my axe, Headseperator; a gift from a father I've long forgotten. It is large, not unlike me. It is fun to seperate heads. The Third, is the wild. There's nothing quite like walking through a forest, in tune with everything around you. It's perfect'

    Horns-Of-Penetration

Horns-Of-Penetration is a mix of Barbarian, Juggernaut, and possibly Pilgrim - but only in the sense of the word, not gameplay - as he utilises a huge Axe capable of demolishing his enemies before they even reach him. He uses a mix of heavy and light armor, which isn't convenient as most of the perks for these are based only work when wearing All of that type of armor. But, I guess that I am a sucker for visuals, and I wanted to recreate the Minotaur like the old legends, and this was the best way I could do that. Another little idea I had was a bit against his roots. Ariadne is the woman in the mythology who worked hand-in-hand with Theseus to kill the Minotaur, and I realised something. What if the Minotaur loved Ariadne? It basically led me to this premise. I wanted Horns-Of-Penetration to be capable of becoming enraged in an instant, but otherwise, I wanted him to be somewhat of a lovebird. So, I chose Senna, purely because you won't find a more gorgeous woman in all of Skyrim. Horns-Of-Penetration is devoted to her - I used console commands to change her armor, but whatever's fine with you - and he cares for her with all his heart. Senna is like a lusty wife, constantly wanting to do things, and Horns-Of-Penetration is just completely oblivious, because he's too much of a gentleman! Moo!

    0/3/2/

RACE: The best race, in terms of gameplay, would be an Orc. They have bonuses in every single required skill, as well as an over-the-top OP ability, which surprisingly fits with the Minotaur. However, I love the aesthetic of the Minotaur, and the Orc just didn't do it for me. So, I went Argonian, for roleplay. They look fantastic with their horns, longish snouts, dark-brown skin, and Histskin is an absolute lifesaver. I'll let you in on a secret, though. I console commanded in Beserker Rage because it fit more, and in payment, I refused to use Histskin. That's up to you, though.

'Once, when I was younger, I had come across some bandits. Despite my huge axe, the leader looked at me; Hey, Lizard! Give us your gold! I frowned, and hefted my huge axe. He repeated the statement. I then split his head in half, and that was the end of that. Now, his head is belt decoration'

STONE: Well, The Atronarch. Obviously. It's easily the best Stone in terms of utility. Any build can adapt to it. The magicka regen penalty is useless here, because this build doesn't even open the magic page; and the magicka bonus is also useless. The magic resistance is the real specialty here. However, starting off with the Warrior Stone is a pretty good idea to level Two-Handed, and Blocking.

POWERS: I used mainly Histskin, purely for the ability to rapidly regenerate my health as well as survive tough hits.

GEAR: The whole theme for this build was a Bull-Man. I took that Idea in hand, and tried to create the best fitting armor for the job. I wanted the whole theme to be about a Shirtless Warrior - as depicted in the ancient art - with a huge axe capable of decimating his foes. I used damage magicka because that was the greatest threat to my health. Absorbing it was pointless, so why not just outright remove it?

    -

Headseperator - Headsman's Axe enchanted with damage magicka

The Ring of Namira - Pre-enchanted with cannibalism

The Lord's Mail - Tsun's Armor enchanted with Fortify Light-Armor

(Alternate Lord's Mail - Fur Armor enchanted with Fortify Light-Armor)

The Lord's Boots - Steel Plate Boots enchanted with Fortify Two-Handed

The Targe of the Blooded - Pre-enchanted with Bleeding Damage

The Bull Horn - Steel Axe enchanted with damage magicka

    -

'It is said that Horns-Of-Penetration is named for his great aptitude for penetrating. Whether it is human flesh with his axe, human flesh with his teeth, or certain areas of my body with parts best left unnamed, he is an expert at sinking his huge axe into his enemies'

So, there a few parts to this section; The Grecian Minotaur, the inspiration. Morihaus and the Tamrielic Minotaur, the in-game lore. So the first part will go over the inspiration for the build, as well as some lore for the Minotaur of Myth. The second part goes over Morihaus and the Tamrielic Minotaur, both the in-game lore to fit him in.

    THE GRECIAN MINOTAUR

The Grecian Minotaur was the son of Pasiphaë and King Minos of Crete. Poseidon, God of the Sea, had been angry at Pasiphaë, over adispute involving a bull. When Pasiphaë was tending to it, Posiedon had her overcome with an incredible lust, and she made love with the bull, unknown to Minos until later. The Minotaur was born nine months after, and was imprisoned within a huge labyrinth built by the architect Daedalus, and every few months, King Minos demanded nine young women and nine young men from the city of Athens, in return for him not destroying them with his naval might. The young people would be sent into the labyrinth and fed to the Minotaur. Theseus, one of the volunteers, slayed the mighty Minotaur, and then left with Ariadne, the sister of the Minotaur.

    THE TAMRIELIC MINOTAURS

The first minotaur, or so it is said, is Morihaus. He had a child with Alessia, and their heir was named Belharza, the Man-Bull. Ever since, Minotaurs have plagued Tamriel, carrying great axes and moving with a speed deceptive of their great size. They can be found all over Cyrodiil, as well as occasionally in the other provinces. Morihaus was one of the greatest warriors ever, said to be blessed by Kyne. He is known by the imperials as 'Taker of the Citadel' and is Alessia, the Slave Queen's beloved. He is perhaps one of the greatest nordic heroes ever.

Got to write a backstory, decide factions & allegiances, work on alignment, photoshop more art, because one can never have enough art!

Playtest Horny the Horn - Horns-Of-Penetration's name in-game - and get him working and playing well.

Decide the roleplayability, lore, and how to fit him into Elder Scrolls!

Find the best looking combination of armors that recreate the Minotaur in his fullest!

So, I really appreciate all your feedback, ideas, and advice and I believe that it's important to get someone else's view on things. I hope you enjoyed the build concept, and I'll see you again!

'Horny the Horn', for a second I read it different and thought we were gonna have a sequel to The Lust Argonian Maid.

Argonian is a good fit, but have you given an Orc some thought? Their ability to hit hard and shrug off pain seems to fit more with me thematically then being able to regen fast, and their massive size and tusks make them look the part as well. Plus, maybe you could work a labyrinth or cave in the Wrothgarian Mountains or Orsinium into the backstory to make it really gel.

Can't really say much else until there's a bit more, so I'll just leave this link here. It's a build Phil Paws and DB created last year, emulating Morihaus (who was said to be a minotaur I believe) into Skyrin. It's a really good build with some very solid points that I'm sure you could pay homage to if you want.

Yeah, Orcs were and are my backup. I'm a little annoyed that they don't have horns, but you can supplement that with the Ancient Nord Helm. I personally preferred Argonians for Histskin and Aesthetics, but apart from that Orcs do work. Also, Morihaus will play a big part in the build. I'll try and fit the whole idea into Orcs as well, but personally I believe that Argonians work better for the RP, and I always like an aesthetically pleasing build.

Yes, I definitely will be referencing that fantastic build in my work! It's a great build.

I like the fact that you gave Roleplay and Gamepay options for race, is this something you might do for the rest of the build? (thinking of armour as one option, as you mentioned that it's built around aesthetics), you don't have to obviously but it's a nice feature.

Tsun's Armour isn't available in vanilla Skyrim, so do you have options for people who don't play with mods or on PC? The Fur Armour which exposes the chest is an obvious choice, but Ancient Nord or Ahzidals are also good fits, they bulk out the fairly shinny Argonian build and add some fur that you could roleplay as acutally being part of the character, with only the metal being actual armour.

And I'd like to say that the presentation for this build is excellent so far, the best I've seen in ages. Have you checked out Brad V's builds by any chance? He was a great builder a few years ago that basically blew build presenting out of the water, took it to a whole new level, and it looks like you might do the same.

First and foremost, you have no idea how much that pleases me! I struggled with presentation for a while, but I got one of my mates to help me with Photoshop, and it just went uphill from there! If you want any art or help, I'd be glad to help you!

Yeah, Azhidal's Armor and Ancient Nord are both ideas to use. I also played around with fur armor, but disliked the scavenger feel. The Minotaur is a majestic beast.

Also, I messed around with console commands to give Orcs Argonian horns, as well as give Khajiit the curled Argonian horns, but I disliked both of them. I used commands to rearrange the Argonian skillset to the Orc Skillset, purely because I prefer Argonians visually, but Orcs are better in terms of combat and skills.

This looks really cool, and making the minotaur a tanky Argonian is a pretty genius move... what with the Histskin power and a little foresight, you become a natural born boss-killer.

I also mean that this looks really cool in its most literal sense as well. The cartoon-ized screenshots really pop and give the build a much more unique feel. I like it a lot. I'm also intrigued by the unlikely love story going on here--gravy on top of what is already shaping up to be a remarkable build ;D

Thanks! I've been told by a lot of people I'm pretty good at photoshopping art, so that's pretty cool. I added the love story because it was so unlikely. Who would suspect a Bull and a Priestess?

Before anyone rips into me, I have a license to kill permission to not pull any punches. I'm normally nicer than I am here. A little.

Okay, the first thing that strikes me is that the build waxes poetic about Minotaur lore, build inspiration, build backstory, and that little love story you have going on. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but right now the WiP is three parts "fluff" to one-and-a-half parts actual build, so obviously you're going to need to flesh out the build some more.

One thing I find a little irritating is structuring, or the lack of it. Odds even it's just me, but I spent countless hours writing essays and university papers, and one thing I've learned from them is that structure makes or breaks your writing, whether it's a story, an essay, a "scholarly" paper, or even a Skyrim Character Build. Here, you have some build backstory/inspiration, some love, some lore about the Grecian Minotaur, and some Skyrim Character Build, and while some people swear by fluidity, I'm of the opinion that rigid structure is better. I'd personally try to structure the build as thus: open with the inspiration behind the build, discuss the parts about the Grecian Minotaur that inspired parts of the build (as well as bringing up in relation those parts of the build that were inspired), then hit the Character Build running. The order I'm using progresses thus:

    1. Overview
    2. Major Skills
    3. Minor Skills
    4. Perk Spread/s
    5. Equipment
    6. Gameplay and Combat
    7. Roleplay (would put the love story here)

and bringing the build to an end thereafter.

I'm not saying to keep every part of the build absolutely separate from every other part. It's a character build; it needs to be coherent and cohesive, and it won't feel that way if references to other parts of the build don't crop up everywhere. But I think you should keep these references short and sweet.

Gameplay-wise, I definitely recommend you make sure it works on something at least somewhat resembling unmodded-noconsolecommands-skyrim. That means that since you're an Argonian, you should try to make sure that Berserker Rage isn't too core to your gameplay and combat. If it is, real Argonians might walk into fights and find that they don't have the tools to end it quickly/favourably.

Regarding your equipment, I have two points. First, you're using Tsun's armor. Some people are going to balk at that. I do. I get that it's very good for looks, but I don't like it. Up to you, but I would definitely try to provide for non-PC Skyrim. Second, and more importantly, it looks like your stuff is enchanted. That doesn't feel like a very Minotaurish thing to do. If you're enchanting it so that you can name your gear nice things without caring overmuch about the strength of your enchantments, say so explicitly. And definitely consider the use of vanilla enchanted gear, if you can think of/find any that fit the look.

I'd also try to provide for a full set of Light Armor/Heavy Armor if possible, or at least three pieces including torso if not. That offers some nice, useful perks on a full set and at least some utility off Agile Defender/Juggernaut if not.

Without more information on gameplay, combat, and even skills used, I can't say much more. This missing stuff is the meat and bones of your build. Make it good.

Also, the last image in your build, with you swinging the axe atop Solitude's walls, is sort of underexposed; a lot of the details are lost. Too many details, in my opinion.

Obviously, this is all only advice, and not necessarily even good advice. (I do hope it's good advice, or at least useful.) Don't feel obligated to follow it to the letter, or at all, if you feel it works better in some other way. In the end, this is your build. You own the creative direction. It is your decision as to what goes into and out of the build. Do not feel that just because someone has said so, you should make changes

Hey, Soly! Well, that was a pretty ... thorough searching for errors! Well, now I'm going to just say some things in my defence, but Thanks for the advice! Anyway.

So first and foremost, you will probably have noticed I haven't actually done too much on this build, probably because I'm only up to playtesting level 15. Secondly, you'll notice my build is a little bit consolecommanded. This is for a few reasons. Everything I've commanded in can be achieved with mods on SE. Thirdly, I prefer to use Histskin instead of Beserker Rage. I have a few options instead of Tsun's armor; Steel Armor, Fur Armor, Forsworn Armor, Azhidal's/Ancient Nord Armor, the list goes on. Fourthly? Is fourthly a word? Anyway, fourthly I have the fact that everyone enchants. Whether it gives you a strategic boost or purely for roleplaying, there's no reason not to enchant gear, if purely for an advantage in combat.

Also, I'm going to include some lore on th Grecian Minotaur, as well as a backstory, but so far I've finished what I can. I really like the art, as well, so I'll keep that, because everyone else seems to like it, so.

Also, I'd really, really, really, like to see you make your own build! I'd love to see how fantastic it is! I expect to see a build soon, Soly :)
