Before I delve into the specifics of the new set of features that I'll be running, I wanted to go into a bit of detail on the past of the features that have been run in the past. The main two were the Workshop Success Stories, and the Workshop Feautres. The two were more or less the same, but with a focus on the content in different parts of the site, the Features focused on the content still in the Workshop while the Success Stories focused on WiP's that were finished and posted in the appropriate groups.
Overall, these were written by myself and John Leblanc (I believe a few people wrote them once or twice but we wrote the majority of them), and totalled at least 40 all put together. Eventually, John and I both for various reasons had to stop writing them, which led to a rather long period of time where we weren't running any sort of Feature for the Workshop. Well today, I'm going to be restarting a new type of feautre that combines the ideas of both the Success Stories and the Features.
The Workshop Spotlights
The Workshop Spotlights shine a light (heh, now we get to have worldplay :P) on Workshop content both during and after it's been posted. The idea is to start the feature as close to the release of the WiP and then to follow it up after it's been posted in the appropriate groups, so the start would be the same idea as the Workshop Feature while the second part is the Workshop Success Story.
At the moment, I'm writing them on a weekly basis, but I would absolutely love it if anyone would volunteer to write them alongside me so we could focus on two, or even more pieces of work per week. The only rule I maintain about it is that you personally won't be able to feature your own content (but I still would be able to), just because I don't want people to sign up to write the Spotlights just to get their stuff featured. But other then that, there won't be any real restrictions or requirements, if you wanted to write these spotlights just give me a call (either via inbox or in the comments).
I'm really excited to start this new part of the Workshop, and I hope you'll join me in this excitement :D The first Spotlight will be posted on the 7th of May, and will be featuring...well you'll just have to wait and find out for that one
