He'd be roughly the same age as Ulfric and Galmar if that helps in terms of how well he can move around (considering the two of them fought in the Great War and probably started around 20 or so). I don't think he'd be weak or anything, maybe if anything a little lower on stamina but I think he'd still be able to move around at a good pace.

Damn, Ulfric aged well. That makes sense to me, a bit gruffer and slower but wiser and still capable.

I just agree with you and Golden. That height sounds good but I think it might be best to just stick him at average weight rather than making him stand out. I assume he'd either be wearing Leather (something simple and fairly common even amongst regular people) Armour or clothes, and both of those would make any extreme stick out like a sore thumb.

He should definetly have grey/ing hair and we don't want to make him too thin otherwise he'd stand out just as much as if he were realy big.

Good point guys, the more nondescript the better.

On the subject of apparel, I assume he'll wear DB armour when on the job, and plain clothing when in the open?

And just a thought, what's this fella's job? He could just be an assassin, but it's always nice to expand a character a bit by making them more human. If he's so obsessed with Arkay he could work in a temple as a cleaner or caretaker or something (and if the DB need proof of a kill, a finger or something mobster like that, he's got loads of corpses to borrow them from), it's kinda endearing to think that the person doing Arkay's work isn't the priest, but the lowly servant helping the priest.

I'd say the robes would be more fitting then the armour, since he doesn't plan on doing any fighting and all he'd really need them for is to help convince the target that he's a member.

We should also have it that he doesn't always succeed in convincing his target that he is there to help, and is forced to flee or in rare cases to fight to defend himself.

I've updated the main post with his age and such. So any thoughts on his hair beyond greying? What about eye colour and name or aliases if he has any?

Hmm. No idea on hair, maybe the same kind of hair as Tullius (the super short hair, but a little darker)?

I think a brown would work for his eye colour, it seems to be fairly common for an Imperial and doesn't stand out as much as brighter colours.

Absolutely no idea on the name, but I think aliases is something he might want to avoid. Being that well known is kind of the sort of thing any Assassin would want to avoid, and a fake-assassin would want to avoid it even more.

Remember an Alias doesn't necessarily need to be a flashy nickname, it can also be a fake name. So he could go by John in his everyday life outside of the brotherhood, and Bruce when with them. And then there's any number of names he could use when helping his targets.

Gaaah, I could've swore I already responded to this.

If we're really struggling for a name or aliases, leaving it as 'NA' or 'Many' is an option - adding to the sense of mystery to the guy and all that.

We also need to think of how he helps rehabilitate the people he saves. Face sculpting them, and maybe he has friends in a few Arkay temples throughout Cyrodiil that can take people in and give them a new life, plus some cash (he won't be needing money anyway).

I've just been thinking, would it make sense to list a variety of eye and hair colours, as he changes them so regularly to blend in? We could give him 'presets', where he always uses specific combinations along with his disguise (could come from memories of his past - for example he appeares like the farmer who lived next to him when trying to blend in in a rural community, or as a guard he befriended in his military service when portraying a thug etc.). I'd be happy to brainstorm some concepts, almost profiles within profiles, as I've done it before with an upcoming profile.

Weapons hmmm? I'm tempted to say his undeniable charm and charisma, plus a little money to grease the wheels if the target really doesn't want to run, but I guess he might've kept his old sword as a token of luck, or a reminder of his past life or something like that - he needs to pass as an assassin, so showing Astrid that he has some skill at arms would make sense.

And on the subject of Astrid... Assuming he goes through the same trial as the Last Dragonborn to enter the DB, how would he pass while still getting in?

Maybe a poison similar to the one used in Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood questline, which makes the target appear to be dead. He could then have offered to dispose of the body/bodies at which point he administers the antidote. Although based on the way the other members talk about the trial you go through in game, it would seem that there are others, so maybe we could make up our own.

Hmm, I like the idea of creating a seperate test a little more. There's something a bit...lacking in the Dark Brotherhood's test because they seem to only test whether you'll murder someone (which you'd think they'd already know) but not how stealthy you are, whether your any good at their art.

How about the same rough test, but instead you've got to hunt down one of three targets (and of course you 'could' hunt all three of them down) and assassinate them. I think the idea is a bit more interesting if you connect to them by having 'real innocents' instead of people that are probably horrible people as the targets, just your regular joes who have never done anything evil. It also fits in a bit better with the character (I feel it'd be a bit hard to justify fake-killing people that are actually just the worst type of people imagineable) in my opinion.

Dunno, just my idea...The Dark Brotherhood isn't exactly known for having any logic in Skyrim other than wanting money. They don't even have the loose rules of Sithis to guide them so I could see them just having initiates kill random innocent people instead of people that may deserve a death.

Could we say that that he convinced Astrid to give him another test, that testing a soldier to see if he can kill is too easy (and possibly throw a few insults at the DB's integrity and reputation for good measure)? I dunno, I like the idea that this guy is a godly cheeky chappy. Are there any recent 'disappearances' in game that we could spin to simulate his task (I was initially thinking the High King, but that might be a bit too far lore wise).
