    Classics Highlight

    The Runic Knight

Bonelord and myself are proud to present the second Classics Highlight (of 2017), on the Social Engine. This Highlight is based on a build using my favourite Skill in Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind...

When I was looking for my first Oblivion build, I wanted to use something that used, Destruction, namely Weakness to Element and Enchanting. Little did I know, that this hidden gem was amongst all the builds in the Archives. The Runic Knight by Chris H. uses Destruction as its 'bread and butter' Skill, which ties all the others Skills together. How, you may ask? Simple, the Runic Knight uses enchantments, namely Weapon Enchantments combined with Weakness Spells/Enchantments to truly make this build shine.

Still confused? Let me give you an example using one of the Builds Weapons. Say if you hit an enemy with Flameslash (which is custom enchanted with 15 Fire Damage for 2 seconds, with Weakness to Fire 100% for 5 seconds), that enemy (Lets say a Wraith), will be taking 30 Fire damage (15 x 2 secs), then add on the Weakness to Fire, which (theoritically), will boost the damage from 30 Fire Damage to 60 damage after the 2 second duration. Heck, if you REALLY, want to be dominating, I recommend chucking in a Weakness to Magic 100% for 5 seconds, taking the damage from a moderate 60 Fire damage, to a whooping 120 Fire Damage, in one hit.

If you really want to test the limit of Enchantment damage, try chucking in a Weakness to Magic spell, so instead of the enemy having a Weakness to Magic of 100% (from the Weapon), it will become a Weakness to Magicka 200% for 5 seconds! However there is a very fine line between, powerful and over powered.

Well, thats it for this Classics Highlight for this Week. Next week, will be based on something... Different. If you have any comments or recommendations for next weeks Highlight, let me know!

Also, don't forget to check out the Event Build:The Runic Knight, by Chris H!

    Query, guys.

How often do YOU want to see the Classics Highlights? Once a week? Once a month? Once a fortnight?

Nice Highlight gents, I remember this build as being a class act at the time so it is great to see it getting some more love! Oblivion just got magic so right, it was a real blow when spellcrafting was taken away in the next TES game.

In answer to the question of frequency, I guess whatever makes you most comfortable and doesn't make it seem like a chore. Monthly would probably work out better, but once a fortnight is also a good call. How many are in your archive? You don't want to be in a position in which you run out of things to showcase :)

Oh yeah, I was saddened that Skyrim was 'dumbed down', magic wise. Heck even the Destruction spells were weakened severly. Hmm... roughly about 30 builds... Wow, that ain't much at all... I think it would be best to do it once a fortnight but I will see what everyone else and Bonelord think.

Yes Lee once a Month will be perfect, there arnt to many builds in the Classics, great job on this one mate well done. Yup Skyrim was dumbed down as far as magic is concerned, sad really it could have been so much more.

Alright then, once a month. Will have to find some other way of producing activity for when the Highlights aren't on if that makes sense.

Love this build as well Lee, awesome pick yet again. The way that Chris worked with Weakness Enchantments and Spells was really, really interesting and something I loved when it came out (and still do). I agree that fortnightly would be best, I think doing it every month just leaves too much time in the middle of it, but maybe if you worked out something else to do on a monthly basis (but was posted two weeks after this one) then maybe it'd work a bit better.

    Dunno, just my ideas there.

Thanks Dragon. Yeah, without the Weakness Enchantments and Spells it wouldn't be the same. Alright then lookis like that the Highlights are going to be every fortnight, (majority rules you know). Any ideas for that to post on a monthly basis? Trying to see what the community whats, instead of posting something and finsding out that the community hates it sort of thing.

Hmm, I can't say I've ever played the Runic Knight before. I'll have to give it a try next time I play Oblivion.

As for the frequency of Highlights, I agree that once a fortnight would be best; It's what I did with the Classic's Hidden Gems, and I think it works well given the amount of content in the group. For the monthly feature, how about something relating to one of the notable NPCs of the Classics games? Sort of like a profile for that NPC, giving some of his backstory, showing how/why he's notable in the game, and any other useful facts about him?

Hmm.. Fair enough. Looks like its once a fortnight then, (once again majority rules). Thats not a bad idea Caesar. I should have done more brainstorming before hand. Thanks alot.
