God City Vivec

This is God's city, different from others. Cities from foreign countries put their denizens to sleep and walk to the star-wounded East to pay homage to me. The capital of the northern men, crusty with eon's ice, bows before Vivec the city, me it together. - Sermon 25

'AYEM AE SEHTI AE VEHK. We are delivered and made whole, the diamond of the Black Hands is uncovered.' - Sermon 8

So, in ESO:Morrowind we find out that Vivec, during the building of his city, uses special blessing stones to store some of the divine power of ALMSIVI and installs them in the foundations of each Canton (with there being two in his pyramid) making Vivec City a literal God-City like it was described in the 36 Lessons. I find this interesting and I wonder what it actually means to have a divine power flow through an entire city. Also, does this mean that after Vivec City's destruction, there are diamonds with the divine power of the Tribunal lying at the bottom of the Scathing Bay?

I did like that little nod to the sermons too. Also, really liked the memo about how Vehk wants Ebonheart either built or moved to Vivec :D Monkey saw, monkey wanted.

But yeah, those blessing stones. Like batteries, powering something.

Blessing Stones. Last line of defence against Baar Dau? But there's always one thing I couldn't stop wondering. How Dunmer's arrogance was their downfall. They knew that if Vivec ever looses his power the moonlet will hit with its original speed. Yet they let it hang there. If they managed to hollow it, why not break it to pieces? :)

That's always going to be the case with the Dunmer. They are the Tower of Babel retold in a fantasy universe.

I wonder what would happen if someone found one of the stones after Vivec city was destroyed?

What are usually villains screaming? "UNLIMITED POWAH!" ?? Well, in this case it would be more like "Limited powah" :D

This is an interesting tidbit that I noticed as well during what little I've done of the ESO questline.

I personally doubt that there are still stones of power lying around the ruins (or the dust, if you will) of Vivec City. The first thing we learn from the ESO quest line is that Vivec isn't against using the stones to refuel whenever he's feeling weak. Who is to say that the bastard wasn't already living on the power of the Vivec city blessing stones when you meet him in Morrowind. After all, it's been a while since Dagoth Ur has been limiting the Tribunal's bond to the heart at that point.

In the events of ESO we learn that the blessing stones can be destroyed when sufficient power is drained from them so I've got to ask; If Vivec did consume the stones to fuel his own power in the face of Dagoth Ur, could this have been the catalysator of the events of the Red year?

Would the Moonlet have remained in its position if Vivec didn't have the hubris to think that he would find a solution if only he had more power?
