Pretty sure the only female-exclusive thing is the Daughters of Coldharbour. I seem to remember Harkon outright stating he himself is pure-blooded, which is why he can go Vampire Lord. Of course, this means the whole court is pure-blooded. This however begs the question of how blood gets 'diluted', which I can't answer.

Just as any other blood. Daughter of Coldharbour makes a vampire, that vampire makes a vampire, that vampire makes a vampire and so on and on. At least that´s the way I think about it.

OK, got a wild theory for you guys. Argonian females have breasts in the games they appear in. But why would reptiles need them? My theory is that the Hist, when guiding the Argonian evolution or whatever, deliberately made them like that to facilitate interaction with the other races. Which also explains how their consciousness, while definitely alien, does bear traits from the other races. What do you guys think? Too crazy? Or does it make sense?

Crazy is another word for Argonian. They lay eggs, have organs like mammals and grow feathers on their heads. Nothing is too crazy when it comes to them.

Question is why would Hist do that?

Hist to Hist: "The Ada of this world are exceedingly primitive."

Hist to Hist: "If we are to survive here, we must adapt sufficiently."

Hist to Hist: "I have an idea."

    *some time later*

Argonian to Hist: "Hur, hur, look at me gais I'm a big dumb mammal. 'Stop killing Shor.' 'The Doom Drum is a demon.' Herp derp, they won't know the difference." *licks a tree*

Yeah... technically Argonians aren't reptiles (sorry for being late). While there is never any mention of it they could be perfectly capable of breastfeeding, there's actually an example of a creature laying eggs and breastfeeding in our world (it's the platypus... Which doesn't help my case. If god exists (debatable) those things are testament to his horrible mental state).

Further evidence that supports they aren't reptiles is the fact that while they really don't like cold, they aren't cold blooded. Species-wise Argonians actually appear to me to be some kind of amalgamete of all types of vertebrates on our planet; they have gills as a fish, lungs like all vertebrates that aren't fish, they have an amphibious lifestyle, have scales and a physiology often very similar to reptiles, have feathers, lay eggs and have mammaries. Basically we end up with a list of traits that could work with fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals all in one creature. There's no way to tell what the fuck they are supposed to be.

Them having mammaries isn't all that strange seeing we don't know what they should be classified as. If we knew then yes, we could start hypothesizing as to what they actually are, in the meantime, let's just agree with Karver and go with: Argonians are crazy.

Even more Argonian wierdness I'd like opinions on: UESP says that Argonian genders are referred to as 'life-cycles', hinting that they may change genders at some point in their lives. My question is two-fold: Where does this info come from, and how likely do you think it is?

There was an article about this somewhere but it will take a lore abiding member to find it. If I remember rightly, there was an Argonian female in TES V? In the capital who said something about 'he' when she was talking about herself.

This adds to the conjecture that Argonians change sex during their lives or at least can change sex while others go along the lines that Argonians believe in reincarnation and she simply talks about another life she had.

Can anyone expand on this at all?

I'll see if I can find out her name.

Check this out. (Hope it works)

I can't find the original source right now, and wouldn't be able to put a link here anyway, since I'm on mobile. But I believe that this statement originates from a text written by an imperial (which should ring an alarm for those who know their argonian lore). It has never been mentioned since as far as I'm aware. It is most likely a misinterpretation of the argonian "afterlife" as Sotek has mentioned.

    City Swimmer

City Swimmer is a female argonian in TES IV: Oblivion who lives in Bravil. She often refers to herself as a male for some reason, I (and a lot of other people) think it's just a mistake on Bethesda's part.

I believe the 'life cycles' of argonians refers to their post-death process where their souls return to the Hist and are reborn in a newborn upon consuming the Hist sap.

None of this is backed up by sources, it's purely speculation upon what I've gathered.
