Charisma

Where do you leave it? In Fallout 4, it's so bloody useful I can't see playing the game without it being 9-10. The reduction in costs, the speech checks, the useful perks.

So when I see builds from say Fudge muppet use only 1 charisma, it confuses me.

    4-5 usually.

I have one character, that was based on maxing it, but haven't played him in a while.

I am using it for my Alice Playthrough. Not all points went to it though.

Still, intimidation is an awesome perk, has saved my life on more than one occasion.

It's usually my dump stat, so normally a -1 mod. Unless I'm playing a Bard or Sorcerer, I don't see any reason to put any points into it.

Enemy has me almost killed, surrounded on all sides, stims aren't healing fast enough, and just as the enemy is going to kill me... Pacified and become a new follower.

Depends on the character, though I often have it at least at a 6 or 7

I'd rather have better mods to my to-hit scores and the Int skills. I rarely use the social skills anyway, I think my most charismatic character was a barbarian who actually had like a +1, but that's because Fury Barbarians get a features that makes Charisma relevant.

I always have at least 6, for the Local Leader perk. LL is pretty much essential if you're going to do much settlement building at all, because otherwise it's a huge hassle to keep track of all your resources. My current build has 7, to max out at 8 with the bobblehead.

Only one point, I don't do much with settlements so I don't really need the local leader perk, and I'm fine with savescumming speech checks if necessary. Still, there's definitely more incentive to invest into it in this game compared to 3 and New Vegas.

On my first playthrough I started at 6 but boosted it to 10.

One of the other useful parts is that it also affects your Settler cap per location (which is 10 + CHA).

Yeah, I really want to get a settlement or three up to the max population size.

I'm playing a Kenshiro unarmed build at the moment. He talks with fists (and is a generally unappealing vagrant) so I keep it low to focus on Endurance/Perception.

I just realized, I can just make dogmeat copy the SPECIAL book in Sanctuary, so there is no point into putting anything in Charisma... Yet that is equally true about any of the Special stats except for say Intelligence since you can have 11 Base intelligence in the beginning of the game if you have 10 Intelligence, drink alcohol, then use the book on intelligence. Allowing you to then have 12 after finding the bobble head.
