Prompted by Borom's latest video (on the front page)...

What are your thoughts / hopes / expectations about how companions will play out in Fallout 4?

Talking to someone in the comments section there, we both agreed that FO4 needs a more energetic/active ghoul companion. Charon was (IMO) incredibly boring, and Raul was funny, but also cranky and complained a lot. Someone like an ex-military ghoul, or the guy trapped down in Repconn's basement would be cool.

I'm also excited by the prospect of an Android companion, so much fun stuff could be done either that!

hey, glad I helped you out. :) android would be cool, especially if we can customize it, you know with parts and such.

I'd be amazed if there isn't an Android companion!

What I'm hoping for more than anything though is that all of the companions have in-depth and cool backstories like in Fallout:New Vegas, which gradually unfold as the story progresses.

I think we've a fair chance of this, with them restricting the number of companions to 12 (as opposed to the shed load we got in Skyrim) is presumably so that they can give them fully fleshed out stories. Otherwise why stop at 12?

Agreed. That was a weakness in FO3 and Skyrim. I have to say, though, I'm confident we'll see that depth simply because of the effort they've already gone to to advertise followers, some thing that hasn't happened in the past. What we've been shown has been characterful and hinted at further depth.

I wouldn't mind that, but I doubt it'll happen. I think they put the nail in the talking Deathclaw canon after FO2(by they, I mean Avellone).

Plus, most of them are probably dead, sadly.

Like Paul said, it's almost a must. It'd be an enormous waste not to have one.

I wonder if we can meet Doctor Li from F3, cause she left for the Commonwealth at the end, so I wonder if she might be a possible companion/npc.

I kinda hated Dr. Li, but having her in would be an appropriate easter egg/tie-in. Definitely wouldn't use her as a follower, though XD

I understand. I kinda thought that her going to the Commonwealth to "get her thoughts in order" more likely meant she wanted to be around smart people, not these idiots.

I can almost guarantee an android companion and it might be romanceable because of the story potential of is someone possible of loving someone who isn't truly human, etc.

Well, there's no denying that an alien follower would be interesting.
