What do you do for a living?

Carrying on with the getting to know everyone better theme. (And the fact that the amount of coffee I drink makes me sound like a lunatic), I thought it would be of interest to see what we all do in our daily lives. So what sort of job to you do? If you are studying then what is it your studying and what sort of  job are you hoping to get?

For me, I'm a Corporate Security Guard. Not to be confused with door security. I spend most of my nights at a desk and greet people when they arrive for work in the morning. (12 Hour shifts).

    What about you?

I'm supposed to learn stuff at this...Learning Institute so I do.

I'm studying Ancient and Medieval History and Psychology as well as English and Maths (I sort of have to do these but I enjoy them so double points), I'm eventually hoping to get a Teaching Degree and then go teach kids how not to fail at life...About History and whatnot.

Funnily enough I was actually trying to answer this exact question to some people earlier today

It's not as easy to answer as it once was

I work part of the time doing research and statistics work for the Church of England  (Episcopal, to you Americans) in my local area. Then I do more hours for the same organisation doing design and writing work (two different departments!)

I also have a freelance business doing writing, design and websites

So, about four different things making for a very varied and interesting (and busy) life

I wash the dishes; applied for my local community college for Fall season, to get out of that sort of thing.

I think I'm gonna be a life-long student, and eventually a history professor. Get tatted up. Curse like a sailor. Talk with likeminded students about the subjects that interest me the most. Until then I just wash the dishes.

I'm a reference assistant (read: help desk) at the university campus library. And I help move books when they need me to. I just work part time during the semester; my wife's the one who really brings home the bacon.

I run two machines that make welding wire. It's the hardest job I've ever had and I hate it. Mandatory overtime on Saturdays, terrible management, dangerous as hell (just sprained my finger last week). Needless to say, I'm searching.

I load package cars for the local UPS warehouse, and after saying that I say local like it isn't a 30 minute drive across the freaking city at almost 4 in the morning. Thankfully they pay well, (most of) the other workers respect each other, and the early hours let me get work out of the way and come home to relax all day long.

I teach high school English at a rural high school in California's Central Valley... a sweet gig (maybe not as sweet as Ben's, but still pretty fun :D).
