UOTW Chapter 172 Sinner and Saint

  • As they galloped off across the plains, Aela turned her head around and looked behind them. The horse’s hoofs were kicking up a cloud of dust but Aela could still see the others as they rapidly closed in.

“Damn it, they’re gaining! We’re too heavy; you’ll have to jump off”.

Nervously, Sotek looked at the ground and gulped. Subconsciously he held Aela’s waist tighter. All he could see were rocks whizzing past them as the horse ran across the heath land.

“No thank you, I’m happy here”.

“Coward”. Aela said as she grinned.

“Better than being a dead hero”. Sotek hastily replied.

Aela was quick off the mark with her response.

“I’d rather be a dead hero myself; I couldn’t live under the tag of being a coward”.

Sotek’s jaw dropped. He glanced down at the ground a second time. Exasperatingly he said.

“Aela, me dying just so you can beat the others to our destination isn’t exactly a heroic death”.

She looked at the terrain as their horse charged across the plains and smirked back at him.

“No, I suppose you’ll just have to hold on”.

Due to the weight of the two of them it didn’t take long for the others to catch up. Feeling infuriated as they were now being left behind, Aela cursed as Farkas rode past. He cheekily waved to them both earning a hostile glare from the Huntress.

She openly blamed Sotek for his lack of heroism.

“That’s your bloody fault for not jumping off”.

Sotek rolled his eyes and ignored her until he saw what he was looking for. He tapped her on the shoulder, indicating that they needed to stop.

    “Hey, we’re there. Slow up”.

“What? This isn’t the path”. As she slowed up she looked over to where Farkas was. To her annoyance he was well in front by now.

Sotek climbed off then he slapped Aela’s backside.

“Get him”. Obeying his command she dug her heels into the horse and spurred it off, charging after Farkas. Sotek watched her ride off and he shook his head at her before he began walking to a small camp where two Whiterun guards were keeping warm by a fire.

Just then the Whelps and Vilkas rode up to him. They were about to stop when he signalled at them to keep going so they all rode past. Then he talked with the guards for a few minutes.

“So what’s the signal?” One guard asked.

Knowing they were sent here to inform Whiterun of the mission’s success or failure, Sotek informed them of what he and Kodlak had decided upon earlier.

“Watch out for fireballs heading across the plains. If it’s one then it went badly. If there’s two then we did it but there are casualties. I’m hoping it would be three, that’s for a successful attack. If it’s three then we might not come straight back. It’s getting dark now so if it goes well I’ll probably get them to make camp”. Then he said his farewells and headed off towards the others.

About quarter of an hour later he saw a horse riding fast towards him. Aela made a beeline for him and rode straight at him. He sidestepped at the last possible moment and grabbed hold of the horse’s reins as she rode past him, just slowing down enough for him to jump on.

Aela had a big smile on her face and gloated as Sotek held on to her hips.

    “I beat him”.

The Argonian smirked at her as he noticed the elation on the Huntresses face.

“You don’t like losing do you?”

Aela slightly shook her head to enforce her reply.

“Nope, I can’t stand it; especially to overbearing opinionated Argonians”.

Sotek tutted back at her before giving her a smart assed answer.

“Well if I see any I’ll tell them to be careful”.

Aela gave him a sly look to see if he was paying attention to her then she chuckled as she threw herself backwards. Sotek had to grab hold of her tighter than he usually would to prevent himself from falling off the horse as he cried out.

    “Whoa!!”

She felt the sudden change in his grip on her hips causing her to shift backwards a few inches.

    “Hey! Ease up”.

The Argonian playfully slapped her on the back of the head making her flinch.

“You ease up. You’re determined to throw me off aren’t you?”

“Sorry, it was an accident”. She said with a smirk.

Sotek rolled his eyes at her and shoved his own hips forwards, bumping into her backside. He acted surprised and gave her a false apology.

“Sorry, accident. I didn’t see you there”. He couldn’t help but to snigger at her thankful that she couldn’t see the face he pulled.

Soon they reached the trail where the Whelps and the other Companions were waiting. Aela rode the horse up to Farkas then both she and Sotek dismounted. She passed Farkas the reins then took Sotek by the hand and led him off away from everyone.

“Tie the horse up; we’ll be two minutes”

When they were out of sight, Aela put her arms around Sotek and pulled him close to her so their bodies were tight against each other. The Huntresses hands slid across Sotek’s back so they were pressing against his shoulders, forcing him closer even more and she whispered lovingly to him.

“We only have a minute”. She said. “I want to make sure we’re ok”.

The contrast from Aela in Jorrvaskr to the angel standing before him wasn’t lost to Sotek; especially when she tucked her head into his chest.

“What from you punching me in the jaw or Red attacking me and attacking Scarface? Or do you mean about you hoping that I fall off the horse”.

She rested her chin in his chest then looked up at him with a false sulky expression.

“Are you always going to be this picky?”

Sotek’s own hands slid down her back and rested just above her haunches. His clawed fingers lightly traced along her spine causing her to shudder with sexual electricity. He gazed down and looked in her hungry eyes. He knew the look; Aela wasn’t hungry she was ravenous and it wasn’t a hunger venison could sate. Knowing full well they couldn’t act on it, he kissed her on the top of her head and he took a long sniff of her hair, revelling in the she-wolf’s scent.

“Are you always going to be so violent?”

Aela felt a degree of shame but she buried it. The last few hours were horrible and she wanted to move on from the hurt and pain she had caused.

“Probably, I just can’t be anything else. Tell you what; next time I feel like getting violent I’ll make sure it’s under the furs. Don’t you dare tell me you don’t like that ‘cause I know otherwise. Slut! You’ll do anything for a chance of having a bit of tail”.

Sotek laughed back at her and he gave her a light slap on the backside.

“Slut? You can’t talk whore; you don’t care who’s around. As long as I’m not tied up and you don’t change into Red, I don’t think the beds can take that”.

Aela tapped him in the chest as she tried to defend herself.

“That was the one time! I didn’t know Tilma had entered the hall. What was she doing up there at three in the morning anyway? As for my bed, it was you changing that broke it. Scarface needs to go on a diet”.

Sotek scoffed at her comment and exaggeratingly rolled his eyes at her.

“Fine! When he’s about you can tell him”.

The seemingly harmless comment broke the sexual atmosphere between them. Aela withdrew from his arms and a wave of sadness seemed to smother her.

“No! When you changed, that really scared me... even in my werewolf form”.

“Red? She was afraid?” Sotek thought back to when Scarface pinned Red down. It seemed hazy to him but now he thought about it, he recognised the fear in her eyes.

“Yea, she felt so vulnerable. The others, when they used to change; they were all afraid of Red, even their werewolf forms. Especially their werewolf forms actually. She was the only female in that place when my ma died so she had to hold her ground. She did it well too; she won all the arguments... until Scarface. Please, don’t use him against us, not again”. Aela took a deep breath and held it, using it to level out her emotions.

Sotek moved behind her and pulled her back into him while he held her in his arms. He apologised for his part in their fight but even to him it seemed hollow and worthless.

“I didn’t mean to scare you, just get you to back off. But in all fairness, you used Red against me first”.

Aela almost cried out from the emotional scars she had caused. She knew the blame lay with her and she didn’t even attempt to avoid it.

“I know the faults all mine; I accept that and I’m sorry. I was just so angry with you. Look this isn’t helping; we got a dragon to kill. I need to know; are we ok with each other?”

Sotek determinedly shook his head, surprising her with his answer.

“No I’m afraid we aren’t”. He grabbed her shoulders and pushed her against a tree then his hands slid down her body and held her tightly by the hips while he leaned into her. “I’m fed up with you asking me if we are ok”.

Aela’s hands moved across his back and she moved her head closer to his. She looked into his eyes then spoke softly to him.

“Kiss me”. As they kissed in their embrace, her leg lifted up and tucked itself around his lower back while his tail coiled around it until the tip of his tail dangled off her ankle.

Farkas came over to them after getting fed up waiting. Upon seeing the two Companions in their lover’s pose, he groaned loudly making his presence known.

“Oh for the love of the Nines; if you’re not tearing chunks out of each other you’re bloody screwing! Aela! Let him go”.

The Huntress turned bright red as she looked up in shock.

“What? No we’re not doing anything”.

In her surprise she had failed to let Sotek go. Her hands were still holding on to Sotek tightly. Something Farkas never failed to notice.

“Really? Un-dig your claws from his back then I might believe you”.

She looked at their posture then screamed at Sotek, pushing him away from her.

“Get the hell off, damn you! How did you make me do that? No. Get the hell off me”.

Farkas laughed at her, as she blushed and turned away from them both.

“Oh so he forced you to dig your claws into his back did he? Well not from where I was standing”.

Aela threw a glare at him and Sotek in equal amounts then stormed off towards the Whelps leaving Farkas and Sotek alone. Farkas laughed then went up to Sotek who was smirking over the actions of his mate.

“Look, no one questions your loyalty but for the love of everything in this world; ten gold. You can easily make five hundred in a cave or with some skins, that’s enough for two whole months of sex, two months worth; well one month if you double up on the girls”.

Sotek groaned and buried his face is his hands.

“Yes Farkas I know; you’re only saying”.

At that point the gruff voice of Aela called out, catching the two of them in surprise.

    “Only saying what?”

Both Farkas and Sotek froze. Sotek’s mind raced like wildfire and then he called back to her.

“He was saying we are here to kill a dragon”.

Aela stuck her head around a tree, showing where she was hiding and yelled sarcastically back at her ‘brother’.

“Well shift your bloody backsides then we can can’t we”.

Farkas grinned back at her and pointed to the other tree where she was cuddling Sotek as he replied.

“Us hurry up? You’re just pissed ‘cause I interrupted your make up sex!”

Upon hearing this, Aela scowled at him and moved towards them threateningly.

“Sotek stop grinning. Farkas shut the hell up. Don’t either of you go telling Vilkas!”

She almost screamed when a voice call out from nearby. She spun around to find Vilkas standing just behind her.

“He doesn’t have to. I already heard”.

Blaming her mate, she turned to Sotek and gave him a light slap in the face.

    “Damn you, you bastard”.

Without another word she headed off to the Whelps, cursing loudly as she went.

“Damn it! Now I hit him again”.

Just another thing Aela and Sotek won't hear the end of from the twins... at least until something else happens. I'll give it 6 chapters.
