U.O.T.W. Chapter 52 Ready Or Not

  • Author's Note: Adult Themes

Aela spent the early evening with Sotek in the main hall. They both sat on the floor near the fire pit in ‘their spot’ toasting some buns on splits. After looking around the hall to check there was no whelps about, Aela started talking in a hushed whisper.

You really dont mind what I am, do you”. She tucked herself into him as she spoke.

“What you are? Yes I do mind”. Sotek stated solemnly. She turned around looking at him not entirely sure if he was being honest or messing about. “What you are, is a bad cook… You’ve burnt one of the buns”. Aela alarmingly glanced at them. On the end of the split one bun was charred from being too close to the flames.

“Oh balls”. She laughed as she knocked it off into the pit then she tried again. “It’s ok, that one was yours”. As she stated it she looked at Sotek with a straight face.

My bun!” He whined as he glanced down at it pathetically.

Aela sniggered then whispered to him.

Seriously, you’re ok with me. You really dont care about, you know what?"

Im more bothered about you feeling you got to hide it with me. I know about it and Im still here with you. So just stop hiding it. After all she listened, and never even tried to bite me so”. With that he smiled, then hugged her.

Out of the corner of her eye she saw the Harbinger head downstairs.

“Hold this I’ll be back in a sec”. She passed Sotek the split and then scooted off to see Kodlak. “Harbinger, can I have a quick word please”.

The Harbinger frowned as he examined her, she was smiling back at him.

‘Aww rats, trouble’ was the first thing he thought. He mentally prepared himself as he answered her request.

    “Ok, what’s the matter?”

“Oh nothing… Actually there is nothing up... I’m ready, I think your right Sotek’s ok with me being a…”

With that the Harbinger finished off her sentence.

    “Being a werewolf?”

She smiled as she slightly shook her head.

“That’s just it, that’s not how he sees it! He’s fine with me, being me. That’s just a part of me and he accepts that. I’m happy… I’m more than happy, I’m ready. If he doesn’t want to join, he’ll still be there for me”.

The Harbinger slowly nodded in agreement despite half expecting there to be problems.

    “There is a catch”.

“What catch? It’s simple… He’ll either say yes or no”.

“If he is to make the choice he has to be aware of all the facts. He will need to know that I, Vilkas and Farkas, are looking for a cure”. He watched her face. Instantly her features changed. She was afraid once more.

“But… Why does he need to know that?”

Kodlak huffed as he slightly shook his head.

“He can’t enter a group like this then find that most want it cured, that wouldn’t be fair. I’ll send him out with Vilkas, they can talk freely about it".

Aela was feeling a bit shaken but she could understand his perspective. Doubt started picking away at her stomach which was clearly shown in her voice.

“Ok…Ok that will be good. He’ll still be there even if he doesn’t want it. Won’t he?”

Kodlak held her tightly giving her a much needed hug.

“He hasn’t left you yet, now get out of here”.

With that she went back upstairs to find Sotek was eating a toasted bun.

“To stop yours getting cold I ate it”. He stated as he grinned at her. Aela’s response was swift and brutal. She gave him a punch in the stomach.

“Oww”. Mimicking pain, he rolled around the floor in agony.

She just burst out laughing. Neither of them saw the Harbinger watching them. He then signaled to Vilkas, telling him to meet him downstairs.

“Vilkas I have a job for you, I need you to take Sotek somewhere. Talk to him, he needs to know all the facts about us”.

Vilkas nodded in agreement, fully understanding the situation.

“She’s finally decided has she, well it’s not like we didn’t see it coming. Since they have been together this was on the cards”. Vilkas wasn’t surprised one bit, he, Farkas, and Kodlak knew this would happen sooner or later.

“Tell him we are seeking a cure. He must have the full picture”.

“Mind you” Vilkas added. “He didn’t seem fazed when we turned into werewolves. He even ripped out a Silver hands throat with his teeth when they tied him up. Whether or not he becomes one, I’m glad he’s on our side and not with the enemy. Personally though, I think he wants it. How does Aela feel about us talking to him about this?” He couldn’t help but wonder.

“She will be fine. He hasn’t turned his back on her once”. But even though he said it he couldn’t help but think Vilkas was right. They could all see Sotek’s hunger for the beast blood.

Vilkas returned to the main hall. Looking across the floor he could see Sotek pinned under Aela, while she was beating him up. Vilkas couldn’t help but smile to himself. She hasn’t played like that with anyone, even as a kid.

Walking over to them he interrupted the play fight.

“Before you kill him, I need a word”. With that Aela slightly relaxed her grip on Sotek. “Tomorrow morning I need you with me. We’ll be leaving mid-morning so there’s no great rush”.

Sotek done his best to nod, but Aela never made it easy. She mockingly held her fingernails like they were her claws at Soteks throat.

“Tell me you love me. Tell me now”. As she said it she had a big grin on her face, ready for what tomorrow would bring.

Sotek swung his leg around and where she relaxed her grip, he managed to turn the tables on her and throw her underneath him. He then pinned her hands down either side of her head, while her face looked straight at him.

“Nope I don’t love you, you smell of trolls”. Straight after he bit her neck causing her to scream loudly, then he whispered in her ear. “I love you”.

She looked straight up at him, right in his eyes.

    “Kiss me”. So he did.

A short time later, Tilma decided to retire early for the night. Earlier that day she changed all the bedding and replaced all the old worn out furs. The shortest route for her was to head past the fire pit. It was then that she happened to close in upon Aela and Sotek. She suddenly stopped and sniffed at Aela’s hair.

“When was the last time you two had a bath?”

Sotek raised his index finger as a way of trying to quieting Tilma while he came up with an answer. One thing he often wondered about Tilma was why she always carried a large wooden spoon tucked in her belt. He first noticed it a few months ago but had never thought to ask about it.

He was slightly startled when she drew it out and tapped him on the head with it. A second later his eyes crossed as Tilma shoved the end of the spoon against Sotek’s nose.

“Don’t you dare give me any of that ‘We swam in the lake’ nonsense”.

Aela started laughing at him however in doing so she unwittingly caught Tilma’s attention.

“And what have you got to say for yourself? When are you going to start acting like a young lady, hmm?”

With a total lack of discretion or caution, Aela blurted out the first thing that popped in her head.

    “When I meet one I suppose…”

A loud ‘crack’ echoed around the hall as Tilma smacked the spoon on Aela’s forehead.

“Shut it. I’ve spent all day setting out clean bedding. You two can get yourselves to the bathing room in 15 minutes”.

Kodlak butted in straight away before Tilma even had the chance to walk away.

“Single baths please. I’ll be in my study soon. I don’t want to have to listen to your ‘Shenanigans’. Do you understand?”

Tilma glared at Sotek then headed off towards the Undercroft.

    “I’ll run their baths”.

Shortly afterwards both Aela and Sotek headed downstairs to the bathing room. Tilma had already set out fresh towels and was on her way back upstairs.

“Your baths run. Try to behave…”

Aela’s face screwed up as she trotted past her as ‘Ladylike’ as she could muster. Sotek closed the double doors behind him while Aela surveyed the room. Various sized metal baths were laid around in a large circle surrounding a water tank which was mounted high in the ceiling. Water from the natural spring in Whiterun was diverted to the tank which was underneath the fire pit in the main hall. There was a separate larger storage tank at the back of the bathing room which housed cold water. Both tanks would, over the course of a day, slowly and constantly refill themselves so there was always an ample supply of hot and cold water. All you would need to do is turn a few cogs to fill a bath.

Using a silly high pitch tone, Aela laid out her demands to Sotek as she twirled her index finger around in a circle.

“I’m a lady so I don’t want you watching me prepare for my bath. Turn around you insufferable reptile”. However the next instant she shrieked as her eyes lay upon the cloud of steam rising from the singular large tub. “I’ve got the wide end!”

She franticly stripped off as she half ran for the bath while Sotek smirked at her as his watchful gaze rested upon Aela’s backside.

“Well I wasn’t going to say anything but…”

Aela suddenly stopped and half turned towards him. As she quietly growled, a solitary finger pointed towards the bath.

    “Shift it!”

Over the course of the next ten minutes various yells and screams rang out admits a torrent of water which splashed on the floor as Aela and Sotek proceeded to have a water fight. Once they came to a stop, Aela lent back against the edge of the bath and gazed slyly at Sotek’s face.

“You can breathe under water can’t you!”

    “Yes…”

The next moment, Aela’s feet rose out of the tub and rested on both the sides of the bath. She held two of Sotek’s bone spikes as she pushed his head down underwater.

“I know…” She stated as her eyes rolled back in ecstasy.

Kodlak who was walking along the corridor in the Undercroft paused as a low howl seemed to originate from behind the bathing room doors. He let out a long groan as he turned around to Tilma.

“You let them have the big tub, didn’t you!”

Plumbing is nothing fancy but they do have Eorlund. Basic smithing skills are all thats need. Pipe draws water from water flow by spring. All running down hill so no pressure conserns. Once tank filled, water backs up pipe to spring.

Yeah, only the dwemer have plumbing in my narrative. The rest is very Medieval, so large washbasins. Fountains are done with water pressure and stuff like that.

Makes sense to me for them to have a bathing room. (Bathroom with multiple baths). Due to the amount of people there. The hard part was working out the plumming lol.

Yay! Finally a bath! Those two were stinky. Mine are simpler, large basin in the kitchen. More primitive.
    Fun read, great job. :)
