Flesh to Flesh

  • Paws to ground, snout to sky

    Scent cross past, deer nearby

    Chase, chase, play the game

    Weapon aside, clothes the same

    earth, air, water spray

    Follow markers straight to prey

    Rip, tear, flesh to teeth

Meal was fast, now quick and brief.

Next, a man, but not like me

Hears no wrong, to blind to see

    Chase, chase, play the hunt

Ram his chest, smash his front

The meats he holds, I will not rive

I need my meals more alive

    Rip tear, flesh to maw

Once the hunter, now no more.

On I run with grass beneath

Until I find my last relief

    Chase, chase, play the run

What I have, please be undone

The final meal to the winged beast

I shall succumb and be his feast

    Rip, tear, flesh to tooth

And in my death, I’ll find the truth.

Wolf, werewolf? Hunting, hunting and then being hunted by a dragon? Wow. This one is really good.

Neat poem, Joshua. I like the choice of words and that there is a progression. I also like how you relate death to truth.  :)
