ToC: Unbroken - The Saga of Fenrir Wolfpelt (On Hold)

  • -
Lords control armies. Mages weave reality itself. Men with the blood of Dragons. Men with the power of the Gods. Men blessed by the Daedra themselves. Powerful men walk Nirn. But it is simple men who will be sung of in the halls of old, for it is simple men who will save Nirn.

    -

Fenrir Wolfpelt is one of the Stormcloaks, Ulfric Stormcloak's uprising and rebellious army. He is a simple man - of no rank, and with no honours or distinctions. He, in all aspects, is just another faceless one of Ulfric's soldiers - nameless fodder to be led to the slaughter - but Fenrir doesn't care, for if he were to die on the fields of battle, his hammer coated in the blood of Imperials, he would die a happy man. But that isn't his destiny - Galmar Stone-Fist has something lined up for him. After Fenrir's quartermaster recommends him to Galmar, he is told that he must visit Whiterun, and garner information on the city's allegiance. Fenrir gladly complies, and makes his way to Whiterun to commence his mission. However, things don't go quite as planned, and soon, Fenrir finds himself alone, with three non-Stormcloaks, against insurmountable odds.

Chapter One: A Mission Most Secret

Chapter Two: The Hold of Whiterun

    -

A member of the Stormcloaks, Fenrir Wolfpelt would lay down his life for Ulfric Stormcloak in a second. To Fenrir, it is as if Ysgramor himself had come down from Sovngarde and Ulfric was his herald on this world. Given an immensely important task by Galmar Stone-Fist himself, Ulfric's right-hand-man, to gather information in Whiterun on the city's allegiance, Fenrir couldn't comply faster. However, instead of simply finding notes or promise of allegiance, Fenrir uncovers a far deeper plot that leads to an incredibly dangerous ploy by the Imperials, and it's entirely up to Fenrir to stop it - with two fellow adventurers, of course.

    -

Fenrir is a natural born warrior, but that doesn't for a second mean he's anything special. He knows naught of much history, save that of the Nords themselves - and of course, that history is biased and unreliable - and was taught by a grumpy man he happened to call father - in the ways of combat, and also sailing. His father, a fisherman, believed every Nord should have their sea legs, so Fenrir did. Fenrir values the Stormcloak beliefs and traditions, but at the same time, doesn't agree with Ulfric's stance on the Dunmeri peoples, as well as the Argonians, but other than that, worships the ground Ulfric treads on - at least until dark secrets are uncovered...

    -

A snarky, young and sarcastic woman, Sofia travels the land of Skyrim in search of fame - and, to be honest, a drink. Regularly drunk, as well as rude and oftentimes unaware of what she's saying, Sofia has proven the bane of many a traveller's existence - often ending with them bribing a guard to imprison her. However, her optimism and joyful attitude mean that few can resist her charms - at first. She first meets Fenrir in Whiterun, during his intelligence-gathering mission. She pesters him relentlessly until he reveals his intent to her, and then she continually pesters him until - reluctantly - he allows her to accompany him. Neither of them ever thought, however, that what was a simple mission, would become a life-or-death fight against the very enemy of the Stormcloaks.

    -

Born in the small town of Amol, near the coastline of Winterhold, Sofia grew up with a sword in her hand, and mead in the other. A capable warrior, Sofia was taught by her father - a Stormcloak veteran, in the ways of the bow, as well as the axe and hammer. She enjoyed combat, and often would start fights and steal things that oftentimes resulted in blackened eyes and bruised limbs. She jumped at the chance to leave the boring city, and she made her way to Whiterun - a haven of mercenaries and adventurers - as well as taverns!

    -

Inigo is a simple travelling mercenary and warrior. He sells his skills to the highest bidder, but despite this, he works by a strong code of conduct - he is an honest soldier, despite his contracts. After being given a contract by a mysterious hooded man, he is told to assassinate an evil warrior clad in the armor of the Stormcloaks. Suspicious of the hooded man's intent, he reluctantly attempts to kill the warrior, but misses his target. He retires, and later finds out that the man he was hired to kill is no criminal - just a soldier! Inigo, his code broken, jails himself in the Riften Jail, his sentence unchosen, while he lives out the remainder of his days in a cell.

    -

Inigo is a capable warrior, and a masterful archer. He carries a bow forged by a master-smith from Elsweyr, and he has carried it since he first left the province of warm sands. He became a mercenary, operating by a strict code of honesty and fairness - he was no assassin, but at the same time, he is no good-doer. He values honour above all else, but gold is a close second. He enjoys good company, and has a sense of humour unrivalled by his Khajiiti friends back in Elsweyr, making him unique, alongside his blue fur and white markings. He is a legendary archer, and he is Inigo the Brave.

Nyan is one of the Great House Telvanni's most accomplished apprentices, quickly ascending the ranks. He trained under Master Neloth before the eruption of Red Mountain, and like many other Dunmeri refugees, he made his way to Skyrim - however, not content with being bossed around and bullied by the Nords, he trekked to a suitable spot in the Rift, and began to grow a Telvanni mushroom home. However, his pellet was faulty and only grew a single pod - which he converted into his home. Following the strict teachings of the reclamations, Nyan is a master mage and an arcane warrior unlike anything seen before. The powerhouse of Fenrir's unlikely team of warriors and adventurers, Nyan is capable of bringing down the biggest of threats, and still maintaining a calming humbleness suitable for one of his superior magical knowledge.

    -

Born and raised in Sadrith Mora, Nyan was tought the ways of the Telvanni by Master Neloth in the great Tel Naga. He showed promise, and soon, upon graduation, was offered a position on the councel. Declining, he simply said that he wished to study and continue his extraordinary excursions into the magical world. His knowledge grew, and with it, his power, but he always remained a kind, albeit slightly arrogant, he is not overconfident or boasting - the arrogance is something the Telvanni prize highly in their students, after all. Nyan, at twenty-seven, left Morrowind after Red Mountain exploded, desperately making his way to Skyrim. Not content with being the Nord's insult-fueler, he left, and began a new life near the Velothi Mountains in the Rift, in his home of Luayl.

Some closing notes. This will be the first part in what I hope is a continuing series - this is the first book - The Saga of Fenrir Wolfpelt, the opening series. I estimate around thirty-fourty chapters in each book, so hopefully that's a decent amount :) The saga will focus on a favourite SSE PC playthrough of mine, and is partially based of of the horrors of war - I wanted to show the strength of the comman person in such horrible events as wars and combats - partially inspired by films like Saving Private Ryan, Dunkirk, and other war movies. I wanted this Saga of Stories to embody the courage shown by simple man - hence no Dovahkiin or Champions - and that in war, neither side are heroes - both are villains. For example, at first glance in Skyrim, the Empire are oppresive jerks - but the Stormcloaks, under closer inspection, are racist and cruel. My story aims to embody this, and let's just say, Fenrir's allegiance won't always be so sure as it is in this story. Thanks for taking the time out of your day to read this, it truly makes mine.

    Your's truly, Wulf
