    Chapter 3: Looking for Help

"I see something blue." said Val. Theryn smiled. "The river." he said. They were walking alongside White River towards Whiterun after spending the night at Riverwood. The grass was covered in morning dew and insects were flying above, landing on various flowers trying the get the sweet nectar deep inside the flower. Below were hidden traps set by spiders to catch their flying prey. Val was looking at the small bush of Blue Mountain Flowers.

"Can we stop for second so I can get some flowers?" asked Val. Theryn stopped and looked at Val. "You're into alchemy?"

Val approached the bush and started picking up the flowers and putting them in her bag. "A little bit. My father showed me, he owned an apothecary in Bravil." she said as she continued to the next bush.

Theryn sat down on a rock near the river. "What was your father's name?" he asked.

Val sat near him. "His name was Tonir White - Shield. He lived in Bruma with my mom. When I was born, my mom died and we moved to Bravil where he opened his shop." she explained. Thenyr was confused. "How come you don't share his name? Why are you called Flame - Giver?"

Val stood up and went to the nearby bush she picked her flowers from. She extended her arms and a small flame formed between her palms. The flame grew bigger and formed into a fireball, but as she aimed it at the bush, the flame died down and dissapeared. She turned to Theryn. "That's it. That is all I can do. Huh, I can't believe I call myself a mage." she sat back on the rock.

Theryn put his hand on her back. "We all start somewhere. I was just sixteen when I used a weapon." he took out a rusty iron dagger. "This right here. I don't use it anymore. I had it for over 200 years and sometimes I wonder how it's still in one piece."

Val looked at him. "Who was your father?" she asked him.

Theryn looked at the ground. "He wasn't that good of a father. The second he learned that I can't do any magicka, he threw me out of the house. I had to spend 2 years to prove my father that an Altmer that doesn't know magicka is worth something."

"Where is he now." asked Val, careful not to go to far.

"He died in the Oblivion Crisis, defending the Crystal Tower from the daedra. I was in Cyrodiil at that time." said Theryn.

"What were you doing in Cyrodiil?" asked Val.

Theryn was quiet for a second. "Uh, I was escorting someone important."

Val stood up, looked at Theryn and smiled. "What's so funny?" asked Theryn. Val said. "I see something that's about to be above a campfire." Theryn turned around and saw a small rabbit across the river.

He aimed his bow. "I hope you like stew kiddo."

The sun was at it's highest point as the duo reached Whiterun. They stood on a hill overlooking the tundra and below them were several farms. As they approached the farms they saw a giant fighting several people on a farm field.

Theryn stood in front of Val. "Stay here."

Val looked at Theryn as he took out his custom made steel daggers and quickly ran towards the giant. He climbed on the roof of a barn nearby. Theryn looked at the fight and scaned the giant.

He took one of his daggers and threw it at the giant. The dagger hit the giant in his upper back and the giant screamed as he tried to take the dagger out of him. "Hey! Over her fetcher!" yelled Theryn. The giant faced him and started running towards him. Theryn threw his other dagger at the giants abdomen. He jumped at the giant, landing on his dagger and using it as a springboard, he jumped over the giants head.

The giant turned as he tried to catch the Altmer in flight. Theryn grabbed the giants shoulder and took out his dagger from the giants back. He stabbed the giant in the back of his neck and pushed the dagger down. The giant looked up without control, leaving his neck open for attack. "Now!" yelled Theryn as one of the people fighting the giant, a Nord woman, launched two arrows at the same time, striking the giant in it's neck.

The giant fell down as Theryn jumped onto his chest and the creature hit the ground. Theryn got off the giant and took out his other dagger.

"Where did you learn to fight like that?" Theryn heard a woman's voice behind him.

He turned around to meet a Nord woman dressed in what Theryn guessed was Nordic armor and had several greenish stripes across her face. "I have a lot of experience in battle." he said.

"It's always an honor to meet another warrior on the road. Me and my Shield - Siblings thank you for your assistance." said the Nord woman.

"No problem. Always happy to help. Who are you people anyway?" asked Theryn.

Val approached them with caution. "Whoa. I can't believe your talking to Aela the Huntress."

Theryn turned around. "Who?" The Nord woman crossed her hands. "I'm Aela the Huntress. A faithful member of the Companions."

"The Companions are an old group of warriors for hire, something similar to the Fighter's Guild in Cyrodiil. Only better. And Aela the Huntress is the greatest among them." said Val without taking her eyes off of Aela.

Aela looked at Theryn. "You would make a fine Companion. If you wish to join us, go talk to Kodlak in Jorrvaskr. If you'll excuse us now, we havo to go collect our payment."

As the Companions left, Theryn and Val made their way to Whiterun. As they got to the gates, they were approached by a guard. "Halt. The city's closed because of the dragons. Official bussines only."

Theryn explained the situation. "A dragon destroyed Helgen and has been seen flying this way, Riverwood has sent us for more guards." The guard was shocked. "Helgen got destroyed? You better go speak to the Jarl. you'll find him in Dragonsreach."

Theryn and Val made their way to Dragonsreach where they found the Jarl talking with his steward. They were confronted by a Dunmer in leather armor. "Hold there. What's the meaning of this interuption?"

"We're here to ask the Jarl to help Riverwood against the dragon." said Theryn.

"You better go ahead then." said the Dunmer.

Theryn stood in front of the Jarl. "I hope this is important. Important enough to interupt me in the middle of council." said the Jarl.

"I am Theryn Elinos and I bring word from Riverwood. There is a dragon nearby and they request aid." said Theryn.

"You can't do that, my Jarl." said the Imperial steward. "The Jarl of Falkreath will think that we're picking Ulfric's side and getting ready to attack him." The Jarl stood up. "Damn it, Avennici. I won't stand by while a dragon burns my hold and slauhgters my people. Send a dettachment to Riverwood at once." he said.

The Jarl then turned to Theryn. "You have done my people a great service by reporting that dragon. But the dragon bussines is not over yet. Will you help me again?"

Theryn was silent for a moment. He can't abandon his mission, but he can't leave innocent people in danger either. "I'll help you. What do you need?"

Thank you Sotek. I'm a great fan of Aela myself. I'm thinking of given her a bigger role in the story, but I'll have to see if I'll include any other characters.

The more characters you add, the more complex things can get and before you know it you could be trying to juggle a whole pack. There's no harm in having just the two chars as the main focus especially as your story is starting out.

I will add more people and form a team for taking down Alduin, I'm thinking 5 - 6 people.

Also, I think that my 2 year old niece has been reading our messages because she's playing wolf and trying to eat me.

Nice to see that Aela has a reputation.  You know it's funny when Albee helped kill the giant, Aela ended up giving him a part of the payment as a gift. I'm curious to see who's the dragonborn in your group.

Yeah, I gave Aela the legendary reputation in honor of Sotek as he helped me a lot. :D
