Chronicles Of The Silent Rain, Chapter 4- Trolls

  • Edornas sat on the bridge just outside Riverwood, he admired the landscape when he felt a light tap on his shoulder. He turned his head to see Faendal decked out in a set of leather armour along with his adventuring gear. He looked at Edornas eagerly and said.

“Right friend. Where is our first contract?”

“Bleak Falls Barrow, we are going to get a claw back for Lucan, the trader.”

“Well ok then, lead the way.”

It wasn't long before they had walked up the mountain pass to see a looming stone tower overlooking Riverwood. A bandit stood watch in front of a small rocky outcropping by the front door, a bandit stood inside the door and further up the tower.

Silently, Edornas gestured to the bandit just outside the door to Faendal who readied his bow. He began to sneak up to a vantage point as Edornas boldly strode over to the bandit. Before the bandit could even draw his weapon, a steel tipped arrow flew from the snow storm and embedded itself in his heart. Edornas drew his dagger and peaking from the door, he ended the second bandits life, he checked over the two corpses to find a pouch of gold and several lockpicks.

Pocketing his finds, he crept up the tower; saw the bandit looking out over the valley, he gave a small whistle and the bandit tumbled over down the mountainside, an arrow embedded in his back. They searched the tower to reveal a small hoard of gold, a few gems and an enchanted dagger, splitting it evenly they continued there trek through the mountain pass.

Turning a small corner their eyes feasted upon the barrow. Edornas crouched down at the sight of several bandits on the structure and he then signalled Faendal to follow them around the outskirts.

    Rrrooooaaaarrrrr...

Suddenly a large frost troll charged down the mountainside, shoulder barging Edornas who only just brought his sword up to parry but was flung back on top of a fallen tree spread across a large pit. Faendal nocked an arrow and shouted.

“I'll shoot at it, you draw some blood.”

Edornas nodded and drew his sword, he stood there muttering to himself.

“May the spirits of the fallen guide my hand.”

He then lept from the log and slashed down on the trolls arm. Seconds later an arrow pierced the back of his neck, Edornas smiled for a brief moment but then realised where he was standing...

The trolls weight almost crushed him as he was flung down the pit, he gripped a ledge for dear life but even that wasn't enough. He fell hitting his head on another ledge which caused him to go into a daze. Faendal was screaming his name over the edge of the pit but another sound pricked his ears...

    The sound of another troll...

The last image he saw was the shuffling form of a troll lumbering out from around the corner as he fell into unconsciousness.
