Chronicles of the Silent Rain-Chapter 1-A new life

  • Everything was chaos. Edornas was travelling to the town of Helgen when a dragon had attacked, he scoured the keep which was the only building intact to find an imperial soldier, Hadvar lying on the ground huddled up in pain. He decided to help him get away from the town. As they left, going along a small road, Hadvar said.

“Thanks my friend, my uncle, Alvor owns the forge down in Riverwood, just in the centre of the valley. He'll repay you somehow.”

“That's very kind of you, you can make it there alright, can you?”

“Yeah, I only needed help when I was trapped in the cave.”

“Well ok, I'm going to do some hunting and look around the area to get familiar with it. I'll be back at Riverwood by the evening.”

“Well ok, I'll make sure there is some food when you get back, happy hunting.”

Several hours passed as Edornas scoured the local area, searched several intriguing areas even a mine before heading down to Riverwood. He walked over to the smithy which was just inside the small gate, he walked up to the door and knocked on it.

He heard few footsteps just behind the door before a strong nord donned in a blacksmiths apron peaked his head around the corner and said,

“Edornas?” He gave him a questioning look before answering.

“Yeah, that's me.” As he said that, the door was opened wide and the nord said.

“Well ok then, come on in there is some venison stew and some bread on the table for you.”

Edornas nodded and walked in placing his backpack gently next to the table along with his sack of deer pelts. The room was spacious, a long table with a fire and two beds, there was also a staircase which probably lead to the basement. He greedily devoured into the meal since he hadn't eaten in at least a few days, as he ate the nord sat down and said.

“So Edornas, you saved Hadvar's life, would you care to explain.” Edornas then wiped his mouth with the back of his sleeve and replied.

“Thank you for the stew that was simply divine. I will Alvor, I was on my way to Helgen coming up from Cyrodil. I came round a corner in the mountain pass to see the town in flames, so I ran at the gate and climbed over to see the carnage. The next thing I knew, I was running through the town, I saw the keep and ran for it. I went through the keep until I came to a cavern where I found Hadvar huddled up in pain. I healed him, we escaped and here we are now.”

Alvor looked at Edornas in sheer shock having the same tale Hadvar had told him come to more light. He stood up and walked over to him placing a firm hand on his shoulder saying.

“Well Edornas, I am in your debt, there is a bed for you here and in the morning I'll give you some supplies, if I have any spare.” With that he walked downstairs and out of site. Hadvar then came up the stairs, his leg in a bloody bandage. He slumped down on the bed as Edornas came over and said.

“Damn Hadvar, what the hell happened to your leg?”

“You know those frost spiders... One got my leg.” Edornas then gave him a concerning look before going over to his pack and produced a few items.

He placed a mortar and pestle, a few cloves of elves ear, a large strip of leather and two potion bottles on the side table by the bed.

“Do me a favour and drink those bottles.”

    “Why?”

“To stop the poison and the bleeding you numpty.”

Hadvar sat up and downed the two bottles as Edornas finished grinding down the elves ear and smeared it on the leather piece, he then said to Hadvar.

“This will numb the pain until its healed, ok?”

He nodded as Edornas began to tie the leather piece to his leg.

“Now rest and don't move your bloody leg would ya.”

Before he knew it Hadvar was asleep.

“Its about time that I got into bed myself.”

He then donned a set of comfortable clothes and lay in the bed across the room.

He lay there for a few hours, thinking of what had transpired within the day.

    “Damn.” He thought.

“If my new life has started like this then I just might like it.”
