The Last Holy-Scale: Book One: Part Two- The Ancient Bulwark

  • The Last Holy-Scale: Book One: Part Two

                    The Ancient Bulwark

We last left off with me and Rekuuk inside a massive chamber in a seemingly small crypt. Three Necromancers lie inside and are about to fight our two Holy-Scales...

One necromancer shoots a lightning bolt at me, only to have it blocked by Tekratan. "I'll make you pay for having a smartass demeanor!" yells the necromancer while still shooting bolts. Rekuuk is planted in place because the two other Necromancers are pinning him with ice magics. "No surprise that you two use ice magic...nngh...trying to imitate death are we?" he says, "but it'll serve you no purpose." He runs through the mini blizzard with his shields in a wedge-shape.

When he reaches the adversaries, he bashes outward, striking both to the ground. One Necromancer falls down a small set of stairs, the other one, while falling, shoots an Ice Spike at Rekuuk's knee...it hits. "GAH!" He screams as he falls to the unharmed knee, "Bastard! Come here!" Rekuuk then runs at the mage and plants a shield to his mouth, sending blood and teeth flying in all directions. "He's not dead...but he's definitely not fighting anymore." he thought.

Meanwhile, I'm still advancing on the bigger Necromancer (seems to be the leader), but he's bouncing around like a Khajiit on Redwater. "You will not catch me lizard!" he goes, "you are outclassed here." I realize that might be true, so I flash a Magelight spell and blind that vile mage and then hide behind one of the chamber's pillars.

The Necromancer looses sight of me quickly...too quickly. "What?! How possibly could I loose sight of that reptile?!" he says, then I pop out from behind the same pillar the necromancer was standing in front of, "You're incompetent," I said and I bring Dread Fate to his knees, sweeping him from ground to air, "and I'll make you pay for that flaw!" Then I swing my mighty Shorthammer above the weightless mage's body and bring it down full force on his diaphragm, making an exit wound on his back where blood, bone and bile spewed from on impact. I also released an electrical discharge on the downswing, burning and bubbling the spilled flesh, when he hits the ancient stone floor, it cracks and he is now sunken in it...burning, beaten...and very much dead.

Meanwhile, Rekuuk is trying to find the last necromancer...but he can't and he's mad about it, so I go to help my  angered friend...

Rekuuk: Come out ya bastard! (Rezmor walks up from behind)

Rezmor: I killed mine...where's yours? I see that he cannot be found.

Rekuuk: No shit Rezmor...he ran off after I hit him...grr, but he couldn't have gone far. I'm sure I cracked two ribs on that bash.

      Rezmor: Alright, let's look.

Rekuuk: Before we do...nngh...can you heal me real quick? I took an Ice Spike to the knee.

Rezmor: Haha...I'm sorry friend, that was funny for some reason. (he sends a healing wave at Rekuuk's knee, healing it instantly)

Rekuuk: (rubbing his knee) Ah, much better, thank you Rezmor.

Rezmor:  Child's play healing, look around now.

They wander the chamber looking high and low for this one Necromancer. After 20 minutes of searching...

      Rekuuk: GODSDAMMIT!!! Where is he!!!

Rezmor: It's strange how he could slip away so easily, I've casted Detect Life...no sign of 'em

Rekuuk: Well we cannot let this mud-fucker go so easily.

Rezmor: *to himself* Come on, think Rezmorziriik...how could he have escaped so easily? (He closes his eyes, stands still, and focuses on his environment)...........mmm..............hold on Rekuuk... (Rekuuk quickly focuses his attention on Rezmor)

Rekuuk: Did you find him...tell me you did.

Rezmor: The air shifts a little right around there. (He points to a little, moss-covered circle, dotted with mysterious runes) Follow me...I would observe that circle.

Rekuuk: We're looking for a necromancer Rezmor, not pondering archaeology.

Rezmor: (pays no mind to Rekuuk, then walks to the circle and squats, hand on the floor) These runes...they're like the ones on the Hiding Door back home. I feel my restorative energy radiating from them.

Rekuuk: Could he have escaped this way?

Rezmor: More than likely...this is where I used Holy Dome at the start of the fight. (he points at a seam) and there's a seam down the middle.

Rekuuk: Then let's get this bitch open! (He slams his shield on the seam, shaking the earth a little....it didn't work and his arm is shaken) OW!! SON OF A BITCH!!!

Rezmor: Now if you slow down and think a bit, you should let me handle ancient runic doors...mkay.

Rekuuk: Don't get smart with me Rezmor...this necromancer is a coward for running...something I cannot stand!

Rezmor: So that's why you're fired up...no wonder. If it's like our Hiding Door, then Restoration magic will loose the locks.

Rekuuk: How can you be sure?

Rezmor: When you engaged the two smaller Necromancers, Holy Dome was still active, and if I could guess...it had about 30 seconds of duration left. When did you knock down those two?

Rekuuk: No more than 27 seconds after I left the Dom....oh...(looks at the door)...now I see how that could've worked for him. The Dome could've opened the door long enough for him to escape...maybe that door was their reason for being in this crypt. (looks back at Rezmor) Rezmor, cast another Holy Dome....it's also your fault he escaped

Rezmor: (readying Holy Dome) Oh hush...let's see how this goes. (he casts Holy Dome)

                                                                                 FLASH!!!
The door's runes glow a brilliant blue and it slowly opens in a spiraling way, shifting stone and moss alike, then  it reveals a spiral staircase down, lined with ominous blue torches...

      Rezmor: That looks cool.

Rekuuk: Whatever, but we must focus now Rezmor...that necro-bastard is waiting for a smackdown.

Rezmor: And I'll leave you to him...right now, we need to press on, who knows what we'll find down here...might even find that ancestor you were talking about. (he gives off a playful grin)

Rekuuk: (already some ways down the stairs) Great, now come on.

      Rezmor: Gah! Wait up.

We walked down the stairs for what seemed about 11 minutes. The base of the stairs led to another long, dark corridor, as if this place didn't have enough of those already. As we walked down it, Rekuuk seemed to have calmed down. we reach another door......a big door......and find that it doesn't open very easily...

Rekuuk: What's with this door? (studies it)...Rezmor you take a look.

Rezmor: Alright, let me see...(he examines the door, seeing that it's covered in similar runes as the last one they went through, and it has a small dent in the center)...Ah! Another Hiding Door.

Rekuuk: Oh, I do see that, you think Restoration will open it?

Rezmor: Only one way to find out...(he puts a ball of sunlight in his hand, then presses it in the dent. The runes don't light up like the last door) Looks like it doesn't...maybe another class of magic.

Rekuuk: These runes stand up...the last few were laying down...try Destruction magic.

Rezmor: Sure...(he wraps his hand in blue static and touches the dent...the Lightning shoots out of the dent and the door's runes begin to glow, but not bright, eventually they dim back to normal)...Well the runes lit...but they darkened again, what made you come up with Destruction?

Rekuuk: Restoration is primarily known for healing...so the last runes, laying down, may have represented a sick or wounded man that needed healing. These runes stand up and Destruction is known for combat...so the runes might represent an enemy in need of killing...

Rezmor: Astute observation my friend, maybe that wi-

Rekuuk: Use a stronger spell Rezmor...(crosses arms)

Rezmor: Since when did you become so calm? Not to long ago, you were in a spiraling rage, what gives?

Rekuuk: "A clouded mind wins no battles." ...Remember that?

Rezmor: (chuckles) How can I? It was the first thing Semkil taught me...now stand back...(he readies another spell, this time, a vibrant-white lighting...it coats his body, then he fires it from his fist at the dent, lighting up every rune instantly)

Rekuuk: *deep voiced and serious* Here we go.

Rezmor: Be ready...my sight spells don't work beyond these doors.

The door's runes glow brighter than before, and it opens faster than you can blink. It revealed a much more massive chamber than the last. It had a tall, 4-sided, pyramidal stairway to a summit where the last necromancer was performing a ritual...

Rekuuk: There you are you bastard! (Readies his shields)

Rezmor: What are you doing?! Explain yourself!

Necromancer 2: You reptilian fools are far too late! Though I am surprised that you two could figure out how the doors work.

Rezmor: *in a "seriously" kind of voice* Does his racism have no end?

Necromancer 2: You two should be quaking in your boots right now, for I shall awaken...THE ANCIENT BULWARK!!!

He begins to speak in a tongue long-since forgotten, then he raises his hands and seven soul gems of black levitate over his head in an arc fashion and shoot black energy at the coffin. The standing sarcophagus' lid shifts out suddenly, as if the corpse within it is bashing the lid off. "COME TO ME! JEVARYIK THE GIANT!!" the necromancer shouts, then the body in the sarcophagus pushes the lid off with so much force, it goes flying......at the necromancer.

He couldn't react fast enough to see the hundred-pound lid come racing at him...so he was slammed by the thing and was also sent flying. He and the lid hit the nearest wall and shatter (yes the necromancer too) sending blood everywhere and you'd hear the crack of stone hitting the floor, and the flop of dead flesh doing the same.

Rezmor: (looking at the pile of meat and stone) Hmph...serves him right. (looks at Rekuuk...he has a disheveled look on his face) Are you alright?

      Rekuuk: Look up...

Rezmor: (Looks up to see another Rekuuk...but more...decomposed) Is that...you?

Rekuuk: No...that is my ancestor buried in this tomb I've heard of from the family. Although that necromancer pronounced his name wrong...its Gavarik...

Rezmor: I'm supposing the "giant" part means nothing?

Rekuuk: It was his title as a warrior before he died.

Rezmor: Well it seems we have to fight him...are you up for that...considering-

      Rekuuk: *with gusto* I'm excited!

      Rezmor: *confused* Huhwhat?

Rekuuk: Rezmor...I can trace my lineage back to him now...he started my family's renown Bulwark-Style combat. I wanna fight the man who started it all...if you'll let me.

Rezmor: (with a smile) Then have at him my friend...I'll watch for anymore undead...and don't die.

Rekuuk: You do that...(he walks up the steps) and you don't get bored, haha...

He ascends the steps, eyes locked on his ancestor, ready for a fight he won't soon forget...

                         To Be Continued...

Glad you are. Now what do you mean by restructuring it...it's all play-like

Yeah, candlelight just floats, while mage light needs a target. Albee uses sun fire to blind.

You know, I'm starting to get used to this format. You should consider restructuring the whole thing in play format.

I can see Rekuuk and Rezmor arguing between themselves while fighting other combatants and laughing at the same time. They interact well with one another.
One point though. Candlelight is the spell which hover's above your head isn't it? I prefer us...  more

This only looks different from my others because I couldn't do it on a real computer...it gave me that "500: unexpected error" bullcrap and I couldn't publish it, let alone get in the site. I'll try to fix it tomorrow...this is just a basis.
