Lun Bori III

  • The light was Ivarstead. Which was in the Rift, whose Jarl had issued a bounty of seven thousand septims for Lun Bori; who stole a horse from a red caped man who foolishly dismounted and tried to put his hands on her.

The gaurd passed her quietly on the road near the mill of the wind blown village. Lun sensed the quietness and turned to see the gaurd whose gaze was fixed on her sword.

"You are the girl who stole the legates horse"

    "I am not"

"you are a dark haired farmers girl carrying a blade as large as your body, not many of those wandering the Rift at night."

"I suppose not, what will you do?

"you are under arrest by order of the-----"

with the utterance of those words Lun was off, she grabbed the pommel of the sword which made a bridge from her arm to the ground and lifted her feet as swiftly as a snow fox and darted for the bridge. The chattering sound of a crossbow being drawn behind her came to her ears just as she was up and over the side of the bridge; she dashed underneath and began to run downstream. A crossbow bolt slammed into a gnarled root as her and her blade whistled through grass.

The darkness concealed her from sight and no man or woman in the Ivarstead watch would give chase on a night as dark as this, they knew what had begun stalking that country at night.

Lun Stopped running when she tripped over a small boy near a fire. When she landed on the ground she immediatley fell asleep. She had run for three hours dragging a sword meant for someone who was at least half bear. Over hills, beneath tall menacing trees, she ran through the airless night.

Lun rose from the ground as a frozen flower might do in a brief midwinter thaw. It was late morning in Darkwater Crossing.

"Where is my sword!" Lun growled to her surroundings.

"I have it in my house young lady, didn't want you waking up and killing my son or Aldos or Thom." A warm motherly voice with a hint of humor spoke in response.

"I will take it back now, I have not killed them, and I mean not to, but I will enter your home without permission and take it if you do not give it back willingly." Lun said, turning her body around slowly but dilibrately.

"Ooohh I like you young lady, i would be interested to see you try to enter my home while I stand here, but there is no need for that today, take your sword girl, no need to be so brash. What is your name?"

"I cannot tell you that, I am wanted in this hold and when I leave I want you to be able to tell men who come looking for me that you did not know who I was." "Solaf would consider that the wrong thing to say" Lun thought right after saying it.

"You have nothing to fear from me strange one, Imperials might own this land but they do not own me or the men who work this mine." she spit "you girl have more musk in your pouch than any imperial soldier that's set foot on this land."

Lun bowed her head slightly and rushed to the door, peered inside, caught eyes with the young boy she had tripped over the night before.

"you are strong little fellow, I could have sworn you were a boulder." she winked at him, grabbed the huge blade from the wall, swung the door wide open and flew out with the breeze.
