Crossover: Chapter 14 - Returning

  • Calcelmo was speechless, “You’re Kagrenac?!”

    “Yes”

“But how? You lived over three thousand years ago! Your death is confirmed by sources from Yagrum Bagrum!”

“I created a device capable of travelling all of creation – you think immortality is too far a stretch? I can and will live forever. As for my death, I knew Bagrum would be left behind when I briefly hopped into the future to test the device – When I returned I left fake clues of my death behind for him to find, I did not wish for people like you to try and find me”

“I have so much to ask you, could you bear to answer a few questions for my resea…”

“SILENCE!” Kagrenac shouted, he was getting annoyed by this man’s questioning and would gladly kill him but his usefulness was too great to warrant it.

“Sorry” Calcelmo whimpered then quickly added, “My lord”

“Good, now go and monitor the subjects – how do they fare in Fallout?”

    ***************

Nigel, Lucy, San-Kai and Bjorn sat around a fire. They were close to Vault 95, Nigel reckoned, and their surroundings consisted of a crumbled road that collapsed when the bombs fell and a sea of irradiated wastes in all directions. Nigel’s Geiger counter clicked more than normal due to their proximity to the Glowing Sea and the odd rumble of thunder made them all jump. It was early in the morning and they were waiting for the sun to dawn, they had all woken up a few hours ago. Lucy was the first to awaken and was greeted by the sight of the others lying on the floor, unconscious. She first tried to wake Nigel and he responded by suddenly sitting up, nearly head-butting her.

“Wake up, Nigel!” Lucy had said

“Huh? I can’t see, hang on” Nigel replied as she watched his eyes slowly light up as they moved around, his eyes were similar to that of Nick Valentine’s – a synth detective they had often helped in many of his cases.

“Ah that’s better” Nigel’s eyes brightened as they realised where he was. “We’re back!” He cried and then thought to himself, ‘now I can get revenge’.

They woke up San-Kai and Bjorn afterwards; their reactions were not as cheerful a Nigel’s. San-Kai woke first, “By Julianos! I am starting to dislike whoever is controlling that device. We must find a way back!”

Bjorn awoke soon afterwards, exclaimed “By the hunt…” and then continued. “So this is the world you all described to me, I see why Lucy is eager to leave but Nigel - I do not see what appeals to you”

Nigel glared coldly at him, “I have business to finish”

“What business could warrant being in this apocalypse?”

    “Important business”

Bjorn sensed Nigel would not give any more information and so left the matter; he clapped his hands and said: “So what in Talos’ name are we going to do?”

“Well…” Nigel began and then brought up his map on his bionic eyes. “We’re close to Vault 95 so we’re not too far away from Quincy – I suggest we head there”

Lucy interrupted, “However, it’s still early in the morning so I suggest we sit down for a while – I’ll start a fire”. And so they sat around the fire for a few hours, nothing disturbed them and they were left in peace, then Bjorn stood up.

    “Do you hear that?”

    “No, why?” Nigel responded

“I can hear, wait…” Bjorn closed his eyes and focused on his wolf spirit, and then he could hear them.

    ‘Do you see that?”

    “What?’

‘That cyborg over there is a massive figure in the wastes – if we take him down we’ll be promoted for sure’

‘You mean Nigel? He’ll kill us both!’

‘Not of we kill him first…’

Bjorn snapped back to reality and grabbed his battle-axe, “There are two of them – they’re going to try and kill you, Nigel!”

Nigel immediately got up, drew his laser rifle and blinked thrice. He entered his targeting system and let it scan for targets; it spotted the two in the distance. They were Gunners but only Privates, he couldn’t get a shot from this distance but he knew where they were coming from.

“They’re over there!” Nigel gestured to the direction as Lucy drew her shotgun and San-Kai charged his spells.

Within seconds the Gunners were on them, they’d found cover behind an old truck and were shooting from behind that. Nigel had ducked behind a rock and did the same, except he was for more accurate and managed to cripple the leg of one of them.

San-Kai flung fireballs off into the distance while Bjorn and Lucy ran up to where they were hiding to give them a collection of shotgun shells and battle-axe wounds. The Gunners scrambled to avoid them but the one with a crippled leg did not get far and a well-placed hit to the skull from Bjorn ended him.

Only one Gunner was left and he had retreated back, this was not an issue for Nigel as he ran up to where he was – ready to enter his targeting system as soon as he saw him. Nigel soared at incredible speed to where the Gunner was and blinked three times.

The world went into slow motion and Nigel realised the Gunner had shot at him far sooner than expected. He saw the laser move towards him at a far slower speed and quickly ducked to avoid it, this caused him to fall over and land on his back.

The Gunner private stood over him; he was only concerned about Nigel – the others he would run away from. “Die Cyborg!” the Gunner cried as he readied his laser rifle. Then suddenly the sound of a roaring flame echoed through the wastes and the Private was on fire. His screams could be heard above all as he slowly began to burn to death from a fireball from San-Kai’s hands; Lucy mercifully ended it for the burning Gunner.

Nigel scoffed, “He didn’t deserve a mercy killing”

Lucy glared at him, “Nobody does with you, Nigel”

Nigel took in the hard fact of that, “You’re right, sorry”

San-Kai interrupted, “Well let’s stop standing around their corpses and go! I don’t know about you but I want to see what Quincy looks like”

    *****************

Commander Collins awoke, nay; he was Lord Commander Collins now – for he possessed the pure blood of a vampire of Molag Bal. He got up and looked around him, ah he was on Spectacle Island. He knew the place but had never been here.

In the distance Collins spotted two settlers and decided to have lunch - he was hungry after all. He waltzed up to them and watched them turn around with weapons drawn only to gasp at his glowing orange eyes.  Lord Commander Mark Collins spoke, “Greetings mortals, I am a vampire and I am hungry – please sacrifice yourselves or I will be forced to use my powers”

“Sacrifice ourselves? You’re crazy!” One of them cried and they both readied their weapons

Collins groaned internally and cast Vampire’s seduction on the both of them, now that they were edible he went up to the first and drank her blood and then did the same to the second. Now he was full Collins grabbed his sniper rifle and killed the both of them for no reason other than it was fun.

Nobody heard their screams of death as Collins transformed into a Vampire Lord and began to fly across the sea – heading towards Quincy.
